Since the launch of the iPhone 17, many customers have reported that the models on display at Apple Stores have scratches on the back glass and camera. After investigating, Apple determined that the main cause was due to worn MagSafe dock, causing the material from the dock to stick to the surface of the phone.
To address this, Apple has implemented two measures. First, many stores have added a silicone ring around the MagSafe dock to limit direct contact with the easily scratched metal ring. Next, Apple has instructed employees to regularly clean the back of the demo device with a salt solution to remove marks.
These solutions initially help limit scratches and improve the customer experience in stores. However, previously affected iPhone models cannot be fully restored. This is considered a timely move to protect the image of the new product line and strengthen user confidence.
