Arsenal have had a busy transfer window. |
The Swedish striker is expected to undergo a medical this weekend before joining Arsenal for a fee of £63.8 million. Gyokeres has been a target for many months for coach Mikel Arteta to solve the problem of number 9 in attack.
Gyokeres becomes Arsenal's sixth signing in the summer of 2025, following Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera. However, insiders say the London club are not stopping there.
If the Gunners sign another player, it will be their biggest summer transfer window since the summer of 2001, when they brought in seven players, including Sol Campbell and Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The last time Arsenal had eight first-team players was in the summer of 1997, with the likes of Overmars and Petit.
The busiest summer of the previous Arteta era was 2021, with a total spend of £142m, bringing in Ben White, Martin Odegaard and Aaron Ramsdale.
In the press conference opening the Asian tour, coach Arteta confirmed: "In terms of numbers, we are still lacking. Arsenal need to increase the depth of the squad and are continuing to monitor the market."
One of the names most closely linked with Arsenal is Eberechi Eze. The versatile Crystal Palace attacker has a £60m release clause, but Arsenal are keen to negotiate a more reasonable price.
