U.23 Southeast Asia match schedule today
The 2025 U.23 Southeast Asian Games has come to a close, with the teams participating in the final and third-place matches having been determined. According to the tournament organizers' schedule, the third-place match will take place at 8 p.m. today (July 28), between U.23 Thailand and U.23 Philippines.
U.23 Thailand has not been able to win the U.23 Southeast Asian Championship for the first time, although in theory, this tournament is an opportunity for Thai youth football to gain experience for the 33rd SEA Games taking place in December this year.

The Golden Temple team finished the group stage undefeated, beating U.23 Timor Leste (4-0) and drawing U.23 Myanmar (0-0). In the semi-finals, U.23 Thailand played evenly, even dominating and leading the home team U.23 Indonesia, but the young "War Elephants" team ended up drawing 1-1 after 120 minutes. In the penalty shootout, U.23 Thailand lost 6-7, thereby allowing U.23 Indonesia to advance to the final.

After 3 years, U.23 Thailand still cannot return to the final of U.23 Southeast Asia. The last time Thai youth football reached the final of this tournament was in 2022. In the tournament in Cambodia, U.23 Thailand lost 0-1 to U.23 Vietnam in the championship match, after midfielder Tran Bao Toan scored a header.
If the third-place match was a disappointment for U.23 Thailand, for U.23 Philippines, it was an unexpected success. In the group stage, U.23 Philippines defeated U.23 Malaysia (2-0) and U.23 Brunei (2-0), in between was a 0-1 defeat with a goal conceded in the last minutes against U.23 Indonesia. In the semi-finals, U.23 Philippines lost 1-2 to U.23 Vietnam. This is a rare occasion when Philippine youth football has advanced far at the Southeast Asian level.
If they beat U.23 Thailand in the third-place match at 8 p.m. today, U.23 Philippines will have a historic milestone in the youth football field. Meanwhile, U.23 Thailand must win to get the honorary medal, to create a good psychological springboard for the 2026 U.23 Asian qualifiers and SEA Games 33.
