Billiards match schedule on October 10: Tran Quyet Chien takes the field, all opponents are extremely strong

Today (October 10), Vietnam's number 1 billiard player officially entered the main round of the Antwerp Billiards World Cup taking place in Belgium.

Closing the qualifying rounds, the Antwerp Billiards World Cup 2025 has just entered the best competition day with the main round of 32 players. In this round, Vietnam has 5 players participating including Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, Chiem Hong Thai, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu. Of which, Quyet Chien and Thanh Luc are in the top 14 so they were determined from the beginning to appear in this round. The remaining 3 players are names that have passed the qualifying round.

Difficult group for Tran Quyet Chien

Tran Quyet Chien is in group C with Martin Horn (Germany), Roland Forthomme (Belgium) and Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu. It can be said that this is a difficult group for the number 1 player in Vietnam. Horn and Forthomme are two veteran players of 3-cushion carom in Europe and the world , both holding 2 World Cup billiards championships. Meanwhile, Thanh Tu is the current national champion of Vietnam. In domestic tournaments, Thanh Tu is always a "nemesis" of Tran Quyet Chien.

In the opening match, Tran Quyet Chien will face his compatriot Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu at 3:00 p.m. (Vietnam time). Quyet Chien's second and third matches will be at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., respectively.

Tran Thanh Luc is in group F with Tolgahan Kiraz (Türkiye), Ruben Legazpi (Spain) and Bao Phuong Vinh. In the opening match of group F at 5:00 p.m. (Vietnam time), Thanh Luc will face Phuong Vinh. Thanh Luc and Phuong Vinh will continue to compete in 2 time slots: 9:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. (October 11).

Chiem Hong Thai is in Group G with Tasdemir Tayfun (Türkiye), Jeremy Bury (France), Gonzalez (Colombia). In the opening match at 5 p.m., Chiem Hong Thai will face veteran Turkish player Tasdemir Tayfun. The young player born in 1999 of Vietnam will continue to compete at 9 p.m. and 1 a.m. on October 11.

The international player who has received much attention is Frederic Caudron, who is in Group D with Eddy Merckx (Belgium), Cha Myeong-jong and Hwang Bong-joo (both from Korea). Caudron will play his first match against Merckx at 3 p.m. The player nicknamed the genius will play the next two matches at 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
