According to Android Authority , the ZenFone 11 Ultra is actually the recently launched ROG Phone 8 from Asus, but with a few changes to differentiate it. Both phones share the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 5,500 mAh battery, 65W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. They even have the same flexible triple rear cameras, including a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP 3x telephoto camera. On the front, there is also a 32MP camera for selfies.
The ZenFone 11 Ultra bears a lot of similarities to the ROG Phone 8
Even the design of the two phones is nearly identical, meaning the ZenFone 11 Ultra has an aluminum frame and an IP68 rating, and even a headphone jack. The back is similar, with minor differences, with the ZenFone 11 Ultra having a glass back and a slightly tweaked camera compared to the matte back of the ROG Phone 8. The ZenFone 11 Ultra also lacks the ROG line's RGB logo.
However, the ZenFone 11 Ultra lacks some of the gaming-specific additions found on the ROG Phone 8, including saying goodbye to the second side-mounted USB-C port and the AirTrigger buttons. The phone also has a 144Hz LTPO (FHD+ OLED) display instead of the 165Hz display found on the ROG Phone 8. Asus also notes that the cooling systems of the two phones are not exactly the same.
Being a ZenFone, Asus has loaded the product with a host of AI (artificial intelligence) features, including AI-based transcription requests for the recording app, summarizing the aforementioned transcriptions, AI call translator, wallpaper generation, AI noise cancellation, and semantic search for the gallery, settings, and app search.
Other notable software features include seamless Snapdragon support for smart devices across multiple devices, notification shade/quick settings design choices, and Phone Link support for file transfer, app streaming, and more.
Asus says the ZenFone 11 Ultra will get two major OS upgrades and four years of security patches. That's better than the minimum, but it's still disappointing when competitors have been offering OS updates for longer.
The ZenFone 11 Ultra is priced at €899 for the 12/256GB model. The company also offers a 16/512GB variant for €999.
