Ba Che: Exciting summer extracurricular activities for students

Every year, Ba Che district organizes a ceremony to launch the Month of Action for Children and the opening of summer activities, with hundreds of children participating. Organizing summer talent classes helps Ba Che district attract students to participate in useful activities and equip them with more knowledge about culture, arts, and sports .

Summer activities will help discover talents for timely training and development, gradually creating resources for local movement activities. At the same time, extracurricular activities also help ethnic minority students become more attached to their schools and teachers, eliminating the fear of going to class after the summer months. Thanks to summer activities, teachers' work of motivating students to go to school at the beginning of each new school year is less difficult.

Every year, the District Summer Activities Steering Committee coordinates with residential areas to maintain monthly and weekly activities for children; organize activities at community cultural houses, schools, etc. Activities take place in a variety of forms such as: Teaching dancing and singing, making toys from natural materials, art festivals, sports competitions. Summer activities also mobilize the participation of organizations, unions, union members, youth and students on summer vacation to coordinate in organizing summer activities for students.

To have more playgrounds for children, Ba Che district also promotes the mobilization of funding sources to invest in building district-level youth entertainment centers and commune-level children's entertainment spots. Up to now, the district has built 10 entertainment spots for children. Including 1 youth entertainment center in the town, the center of the district; 9 entertainment spots for children in the centers of communes. 100% of villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods in the district have cultural houses to organize recreational activities for local children... Taking advantage of available facilities, the district also opens talent classes such as: Dancing, Vovinam martial arts and folk games such as kite making, lion dance, shuttlecock kicking, gong playing, etc. at youth entertainment centers, community cultural houses and schools.

In order to effectively implement Decision No. 1515-QD/TU dated May 24, 2019 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on approving the Project "Discovering talents and fostering skills and talents in some fields for children and adolescents in the province in the period of 2019-2025", Ba Che district has planned to organize gifted classes in the summer of 2023. Ms. Pham Thu Hang, Head of the District's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, said: The district will open 4 gifted classes in badminton, fine arts, soccer and modern dance at the Central Cultural House (Zone 2, Ba Che town).

According to Ms. Hang, these gifted classes will be taught for 20 days. Participants are teenagers and children (aged 7 to 15 years old) in the district. Teachers are staff of the district's Center for Communication and Culture, art teachers of the district's Department of Education and Training, Thanh Nam Football Club, Loan Nguyen Dance Fitness Ba Che Club. The gifted classes will attract students to participate in useful activities during the summer vacation, equipping them with knowledge about culture, arts, and sports. Through this, talented children will be discovered for timely training and development, gradually creating a source for movement activities in schools and localities.

To contribute to preventing accidents for students during the summer, the District Summer Activities Steering Committee actively innovates activities, closely coordinates with families to guide children into useful activities, helps them stay away from social evils, and at the same time minimizes accidents and injuries.

Implementing the guidance of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs on children's work, the District Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has developed a plan to organize swimming classes in the summer of 2023. The classes will create conditions for children to access swimming theory, access the reality of rivers and water, learn swimming skills and prevent drowning accidents for children. The class is conducted by physical education teachers who have been granted swimming teaching certificates and have experience in teaching. The subjects participating in the class are students from poor and near-poor households in the district who often have to go to school through ponds, lakes, rivers and streams with a high risk of drowning.

Each class takes place within 12 days arranged by the District Department of Education and Training at Luong Mong Primary and Secondary School, Dap Thanh Secondary Boarding School, Thanh Lam Secondary Boarding School, Nam Son Secondary Boarding School, Ba Che Town Primary School and Don Dac 2 Secondary Boarding School.

In addition, in order for the summer soccer class to operate effectively and safely, in addition to a team of qualified, experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated coaches, the Organizing Committee also arranges staff in charge to coordinate with homeroom teachers to closely manage students when they participate in the class. Extracurricular classes contribute to creating a friendly and healthy environment for children during the summer, attracting children to participate in useful activities, contributing to comprehensive development. At the same time, it demonstrates the concern of the whole society in the work of protecting, caring for and educating children, contributing to the development of the cultural and sports movement.

With the desire to bring children a safe, useful and interesting summer, right from the beginning of summer, the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union and the District Youth Union Council have implemented a plan to organize summer activities associated with the Month of Action for Children at the grassroots level of the Youth Union in communes and towns. We also directed the Youth Union bases to focus on implementing the reception and handover of students for summer vacation, recreational activities, life skills education, organizing gifted classes, preventing accidents and injuries for children and some other skills; well organizing the activities of "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday", "Repaying gratitude" and volunteer activities right in the locality to attract students, union members and young people to participate in volunteering. Through these activities, we hope to create a safe and healthy playground for children, while helping families and localities manage children during the summer vacation months; help children develop their strengths and talents, equip them with life skills, educate them about patriotism, positive lifestyle, and stay away from negative and useless games during the summer.

As the 2022-2023 school year is about to end, the school board has developed a plan to organize summer activities for students. In particular, in the upcoming school year summary, we plan to include a very important content in the program, which is to promote and guide students on life skills and injury prevention to ensure their safety this summer. After handing over students to their localities for summer activities, we direct staff and teachers to coordinate with communes and villages to organize summer activities for them. In addition, the school will coordinate to open summer talent classes for the students; instruct the teaching staff to orient students on the content and methods of reviewing knowledge during the summer to help them confidently enter the new school year.

To ensure that children in the district have useful playgrounds during the summer, every year, the District Center for Communication and Culture proactively advises the District People's Committee; coordinates with agencies and functional units of communes and towns to open summer talent classes for children to have the opportunity to participate and develop their talents such as: Sports, culture and arts, especially swimming, soccer, badminton, shuttlecock, singing, painting classes, in which we focus on exploiting folk songs, performance types, and ethnic cultural features so that children can preserve their own cultural features. In addition to using funds provided by the State, we also mobilize the socialization of cadres, party members and local people so that children have the best conditions to participate in cultural and artistic classes and activities. In addition to opening gifted classes, the District Center for Communication and Culture also regularly organizes cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities and sports tournaments suitable for the needs and ages of the children.

To create a vibrant and useful summer activity environment for teenagers and children, Luong Mong Commune Youth Union chooses rich, diverse and age-appropriate activities. The summer activities are planned early, focusing on organizing folk games, sports and performing arts every Saturday evening. Thereby, helping to connect children to participate in group activities, be sociable, open, creating opportunities to exchange and learn from each other and be interested in summer activities. We coordinate with the sectors, unions of the commune and villages to organize propaganda on skills to prevent injuries for children, especially ways to prevent drowning. In addition, children can also participate in volunteer activities for community life such as: Environmental sanitation, village roads, planting trees, and disposing of waste in the right place; At the same time, participate in activities to help families of war invalids, martyrs, and families with revolutionary contributions, contributing to educating children in patriotism and responsibility to family and society.
