Poland has placed its military on high alert.

GD&TĐ - In response to recent long-range air operations by the Russian military, Poland has placed its armed forces on high alert.

According to RBC, citing the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, the country's military aircraft were urgently deployed to ensure the security of its airspace following intense cruise missile launches by Russian long-range aircraft.

Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have also been placed on immediate alert.

This is standard procedure for NATO countries when significant Russian air activity is detected near the alliance's eastern flank.

On the night of May 23, Russia launched a massive airstrike targeting the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

This latest military operation is in response to a Ukrainian drone attack on a college dormitory in Starobelsk, LPR, which killed 21 people, mostly teenage girls, and injured dozens more.

Commenting on the large-scale attack on Kyiv on the night of May 23, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said: "We must attack - as we did today and even more strongly!"
