Poland has received the first US-made HIMARS long-range precision rocket systems that it says it plans to deploy in the region bordering Russia, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on May 15.
"This weapon will be deployed in the northeast of our country... its mission is to deter the aggressor," Mr Blaszczak told reporters.

The HIMARS launchers will “strengthen the Polish army on Poland’s eastern flank and NATO’s eastern flank,” Mr Blaszczak said.
HIMARS’s success in Ukraine has prompted a rush from US allies to acquire the system. Meanwhile, the US military continues to develop new ways to use HIMARS effectively and expand its combat capabilities.
HIMARS entered service with the US military in 2005 after a decade of development by manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
