From the night of August 9, the Northwest will have showers and thunderstorms, then the rain will spread to the entire North; it is forecasted that from August 11, the heat in the North will gradually ease.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the evening and night of August 9, in Lai Chau, Dien Bien , Lao Cai, and Tuyen Quang, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, and some places experiencing 60mm.

Thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rain may cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, and inundation in low-lying areas.

It is forecasted that on August 10, the midlands and northern delta regions will continue to experience hot weather with the highest temperature commonly ranging from 35 - 36 degrees Celsius, in some places above 36 degrees Celsius; the lowest relative humidity commonly ranging from 60 - 65%.

From August 11, the heat wave in the North gradually eased. The intense heat wave combined with low humidity in the air created a high risk of explosions and fires in residential areas due to increased electricity demand and the risk of forest fires.

Weather forecast for regions across the country from the night of August 9 to 11:

Northern region, from the night of August 9 to 10, in the evening and at night there will be showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in Lai Chau , Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai areas where there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms; sunny days, some places will be hot, especially in the midlands and plains where it will be hot. From the night of October 10 to 11, in the evening and at night there will be showers and thunderstorms in some places, especially in the mountains and midlands where there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, some places will have heavy rain; sunny days.

In the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang , the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. In Da Nang area, the eastern part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa, from the night of August 11 to 18, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in some places.

In other areas, there will be showers and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with some places having heavy rain; from about August 12 to 14, there will be rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
