At the reception, Secretary of Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan welcomed Mr. John Neuffer to visit and work with Bac Ninh province; at the same time, provided general information about the socio -economic situation of the province.
Despite being the smallest province in the country, Bac Ninh has a particularly important position and role in the Capital Region system; one of the seven provinces in the Northern key economic region, Bac Ninh has always strived to promote a dynamic, proactive, creative spirit and achieved many positive and comprehensive achievements.
The province's export value reached 46.9 billion USD, ranking 2nd in the country; the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita reached 166.9 million VND, ranking 3rd in the country. Total foreign direct investment ranked 4th in the country (over 2.22 billion USD).
The province currently has 16 industrial parks with 24 investment projects to build and develop industrial park infrastructure. Up to now, Bac Ninh province has granted investment registration to more than 2,000 valid projects with a total registered investment capital after adjustment and capital contribution, share purchase, and capital contribution reaching more than 24 billion USD from 40 countries and territories (ranking 7th nationwide in terms of scale of investment capital attracted).
The Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee affirmed that the above results were achieved thanks to the important contribution of the foreign-invested sector. Of which, the United States has 19 investment projects in the area with a total investment capital of 664.31 million USD.
Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan emphasized that, on the basis of the good relationship between Vietnam and the United States, Bac Ninh always gives priority to developing friendly and cooperative relations with US localities and organizations.
In the coming time, Bac Ninh always wishes to promote friendly and cooperative relations with localities, associations and organizations of the United States in the spirit of promoting and deepening the achieved cooperation results and expanding new areas, especially the US Semiconductor Industry Association is orienting and interested in expanding investment in Vietnam. This is in line with the development trend of Bac Ninh when the province is focusing on developing high-tech industry with the establishment and construction of high-tech zones.
Emphasizing that Bac Ninh is currently focusing on attracting investment in the field of semiconductor and chip manufacturing, the Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee hopes that the Chairman of the US Semiconductor Industry Association will work with the province to build a high-tech ecosystem for the North in Bac Ninh, especially semiconductor and chip manufacturing; the Association will create conditions to help train high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry.
Currently, Bac Ninh has attracted Amkor and Micro Commercial Components as the initial foundation to form this ecosystem.
Along with that, the Association connects with member corporations and enterprises to increase investment and expand investment in Vietnam, thereby contributing to the development of the semiconductor industry, promoting economic restructuring towards industrialization, taking the development of high technology, modern technology, and digital technology as the foundation for growth.
The Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee affirmed his readiness to create the best conditions for US investors to come and learn about and invest in Bac Ninh and was ready to accompany and remove all difficulties and obstacles for mutual development.
Expressing his impression of the dynamism, creativity, development, and appreciation of the environment, potential, and investment and business opportunities in Vietnam in general and Bac Ninh province in particular, Mr. John Neuffer affirmed that in the United States, the semiconductor industry is developing vigorously, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. The world recognizes the importance of the semiconductor industry. Vietnam has some experience in the semiconductor industry and there are still many opportunities ahead. This is a premise for the United States to learn about and cooperate in investing in this field.
In addition, Mr. John Neuffer suggested that Vietnam in general, including Bac Ninh province, should not only promote assembly but also move towards chip design - a field with great potential.
Emphasizing that Vietnam is a particularly attractive market for cooperation and development of the semiconductor industry, Mr. John Neuffer said that the US Semiconductor Industry Association has and will continue to research and cooperate in investing in this field...
