Of which, the project to close the Ring Road 2 is expected to start construction in November 2025 and be completed by the end of 2027. When completed, the route will be closed, helping to increase connectivity between districts, towns and neighboring areas.

The project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway (An Phu - Ring Road 2 section) will start construction at the end of October 2025 and be completed in 2026, contributing to reducing the load on the existing expressway.

The An Phu intersection construction project is speeding towards the finish line.

An Phu intersection is under construction, expected to open to traffic the N2 overpass branch before December 31, HC1 underpass before January 15, 2026, and complete the entire project by September 2026.

Along with that, My Thuy intersection is also being accelerated, expected to be completed in June 2026, helping to relieve traffic pressure in the Cat Lai port area.

According to Mr. Hop, Ho Chi Minh City is currently implementing major infrastructure projects under the special mechanism of Resolution 98/2023/QH15, including: Project to upgrade and expand National Highway 13 (from the beginning of Binh Trieu to the border of Binh Duong); upgrade and expand National Highway 1 (section from Kinh Duong Vuong Street to the border of Long An ); Project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 22 (from An Suong to Ring Road 3); upgrade the North-South axis road (from Nguyen Van Linh to Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway).

These projects are speeding up compensation and site clearance work, expected to be completed by 2028 at the latest.

In addition, the project to expand Hanoi Highway and National Highway 1, from the old Tram 2 intersection to Tan Van intersection, is expected to be completed in 2027.

While waiting for the projects to be completed, according to the Deputy Head of the Traffic Works Maintenance and Operation Department, the Department of Construction has researched and adjusted temporary traffic organization to limit congestion on key routes.

Specifically, Cat Lai port area has adjusted lane division on Vo Chi Cong street, Phu My bridge, separating lanes for container trucks and cars to reduce traffic conflicts.

On National Highway 51, the authorities have repaired the road surface, repainted the entire road marking system and coordinated with the Traffic Police Department to adjust the traffic light phases at intersections to match actual traffic volume.

My Thuy intersection, once completed, will solve the traffic congestion problem at the eastern gateway of the city.

At An Phu intersection, authorities divided traffic to serve the construction, allowing two-wheeled vehicles to enter the parallel road of the highway, thereby organizing three lanes for cars on the road leading to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway.

In addition, on National Highway 1 (Do Muoi and Le Duc Anh streets), Ho Chi Minh City has limited the speed to 30km/h for trucks and container trucks on mixed roads from September 13, 2025. On National Highway 22, cars are prohibited from turning left or making U-turns during rush hour, and the median strip is opened and traffic direction is adjusted to ensure order and traffic safety.

According to the Department of Construction, these solutions will help reduce traffic pressure at the gateways to Ho Chi Minh City, creating favorable conditions for construction and soon putting key projects into operation.
