Final article: Strengthening national unity

Throughout their journey alongside the people, the Border Guard and Coast Guard forces have always been a solid pillar of support on the nation's borders, contributing to safeguarding national security and sovereignty. People in border and island regions increasingly trust and expect the support of these two forces, especially as their public relations work becomes more practical, effective, and closely aligned with people's lives.

The people trust and expect the support of the forces.

In remote border and island regions, the greatest aspiration of the people is to live peacefully, safely, and have the opportunity to develop. They hope that the Coast Guard will continue to accompany and support them in venturing out to sea safely, complying with the law, and contributing to the protection of maritime sovereignty ; while the Border Guard will always stand alongside them to help develop the economy, preserve cultural identity, and build new rural areas.

Officers from the Dat Mui Border Guard Station are educating fishermen on complying with regulations against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Mr. Tra Duong Thai, a fisherman from Phan Ngoc Hien commune, shared: “The programs of the Border Guard and Coast Guard in recent times have been very practical. The training courses have helped us improve our understanding of protecting maritime sovereignty and combating illegal fishing. In particular, the safe fishing boat teams have provided timely assistance to fishermen when they encounter difficulties at sea, bringing peace of mind when venturing out to sea.”

“Thanks to the soldiers' assistance, many students in remote areas have received material and spiritual support; disadvantaged families have been visited, examined, and given free medicine. We hope the force will continue to have more practical activities and stand alongside the people,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Chinh, a resident of the same commune.

Major Pham Nam Son, Political Officer of Dat Mui Border Guard Station, said: “Civilian mobilization is a strong bridge between the military and the people in the southernmost part of the country. During difficult times, storms, high tides, or epidemics, the people are not alone, because the Border Guard always stands shoulder to shoulder with them. Conversely, when the soldiers are on patrol and crime prevention duty, the people are a reliable support base, an important ‘eyes and ears’ helping to maintain security and order. This is a vivid manifestation of the great national unity, firmly consolidated from the grassroots level, an irreplaceable foundation for protecting the sacred borders and islands of the Fatherland.”

Through mass mobilization efforts, the Party and State's policies, laws, and regulations are conveyed to each household and community in a way that is accessible and easy to understand. The armed forces not only disseminate information but also directly support and assist people in overcoming difficulties in their lives, thereby strengthening the people's trust in the armed forces and the political system.

Innovating and improving mass mobilization work.

Experience shows that wherever mass mobilization is done well, the national unity becomes even stronger. This is an important foundation that helps the country overcome difficulties and create a combined strength in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era.

Building on the achievements made, while clearly identifying the difficulties and challenges in the new situation, the two forces have determined to continue innovating and improving the quality of mass mobilization work, linking it with the task of managing and protecting the sovereignty and security of the maritime border.

The Dat Mui Border Guard Station and the Dat Mui Women's Union visited and presented gifts to a family with two children suffering from cerebral palsy, as part of the "Connecting the Border - Sharing Love" program.

Colonel Pham Minh Giang, Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard Command, stated: “In the coming time, the Provincial Border Guard Command will continue to promote its core role and expand effective community outreach models such as: “Helping children go to school”, “Adopted children of border guard posts”, “School legal awareness teams”, “Connecting the border - Sharing love”, “Insurance for children”, along with activities to care for the poor, disadvantaged students, and policy beneficiary families during the Lunar New Year. At the same time, we will promote the nationwide movement to protect national security and build a strong all-people border defense posture.”

Regarding the Coast Guard force, Lieutenant Colonel Trinh Minh Hien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Squadron 42 (Coast Guard Region 4 Command), shared : “We are determined to effectively implement socio -economic development movements and programs in the locality; join forces in building new rural areas, protecting the marine environment, caring for community health, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics, and implementing social welfare policies. In addition, we will strengthen information exchange and closely coordinate with localities in ensuring security and order, rescue operations, combating crime, and helping and supporting fishermen to be safe during fishing at sea.”

Throughout the history of nation-building and national defense, the strength of the Vietnamese people has always stemmed from the great unity of the entire nation. Today, the mass mobilization work of the armed forces in general, and the Border Guard and Coast Guard in particular, continues to affirm its crucial role in consolidating the close, blood-bond relationship between the military and the people, and building a solid foundation of popular support.

The people's consensus is the measure of success in mass mobilization work. The skillful and people-pleasing approach of the two forces in mass mobilization not only solves immediate problems but also creates a solid foundation for the long-term cause of national defense.
