Mr. Lam Thai Xuyen, Director of Minh Phu Certified Shrimp Co., Ltd., reported on the results of the survey and selection of shrimp farming households to participate in the international certified shrimp project in Ho Thi Ky Commune in 2026. He also shared information on the advantages, difficulties, and experiences in developing internationally certified shrimp farming areas in the past.
Production organization will be restructured along the value chain: linking farmers into cooperatives; businesses will play a central role in supplying inputs, guaranteeing outputs, and sharing risks. ASC-certified farming areas will focus on linking with certified seed suppliers from 2026 onwards, while gradually numbering farming areas and granting eco-labels for Ho Thi Ky and Ca Mau shrimp products. A model of internationally certified supply chain will be developed and replicated.
Mr. Vo Minh Tri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of De Tay General Service Cooperative, shared his experience in mobilizing and encouraging households to voluntarily participate in the internationally certified shrimp project.
Regarding the market, create favorable conditions for businesses and cooperatives to participate in the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival, promote the advantages of the shrimp-rice farming ecosystem, and attract large enterprises to invest in standardized raw material areas. At the same time, improve the mechanism for linking factories and farming areas, build brands, establish geographical indications, and strictly control trade fraud.
Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Thi Ky Commune, and Mr. Lam Thai Xuyen, Director of Minh Phu Certified Shrimp Social Company Limited, signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The application of science and technology is promoted through VietGAP and GlobalGAP processes, and aims to expand the area of aquaculture certified under ASC standards. Environmental and disease prevention efforts focus on waste control, environmental impact assessment, disease prevention awareness campaigns, and epidemiological surveillance.
Human resources are strengthened through training of management and technical staff, consolidation of cooperatives and cooperative groups, and training in traceability. Simultaneously, efforts are being intensified to promote awareness among the community and strengthen cooperation with international organizations such as MCD, WFF, GIZ, and Mekong Organics to apply technological advancements and promote clean shrimp farming models to domestic and international markets.
