Colonel Tran Xuan Thang, Head of Political Affairs of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command, affirmed that he and his officers and soldiers will continue to uphold the heroic tradition, unite, overcome difficulties, and successfully complete all assigned tasks; strengthen propaganda and mobilize fishermen to strictly abide by the law, join hands with the people to protect maritime sovereignty and islands, and maintain security and order in the southwestern sea region.
The visit to Tho Chau Temple is an activity with profound educational significance, helping delegates better understand history and the losses and sacrifices of their ancestors. From there, it enhances their responsibility in promoting national unity, developing socio-economic aspects while protecting maritime sovereignty and islands.
Keeping the promise in the southwestern sea.
Fulfilling their promise to Uncle Ho, immediately after the memorial service, the delegation surveyed and assessed the situation in the southwestern sea and islands. The focus was on evaluating the lives of fishermen, fishing activities, national defense and security, and the issues arising on the ground. Through this, they were able to promptly understand the thoughts and aspirations of fishermen who are working day and night at sea, safeguarding the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland. The delegation visited, encouraged, and presented gifts to fishermen and the forces on duty at sea; at the same time, they disseminated legal information and encouraged people to raise their awareness of complying with regulations in fishing. The national flags, portraits of Uncle Ho, and gifts handed directly to the fishermen further strengthened their confidence and motivation to continue venturing out to sea and maintaining their livelihoods.
The delegation presented the national flag, a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh, and gifts to encourage fishermen in the southwestern coastal region.
In particular, the unit focused on disseminating information about combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Officers and soldiers directly visited each fishing vessel to guide fishermen in complying with regulations regarding fishing logs, vessel tracking devices, avoiding violations of foreign waters, and other regulations related to combating IUU fishing.
The survey and assessment of the situation in the southwestern sea and islands aims to strengthen the connection between maritime law enforcement forces and local authorities and fishermen. This contributes to building a stronger national defense and people's security posture at sea, creating a foundation for protecting maritime sovereignty in the new situation. The visit to Tho Chau Temple was a meaningful starting point for the journey across the Southwest Sea. From the promise made before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, the heroic martyrs, and the deceased compatriots, each member of the delegation became even more deeply aware of their responsibility to their homeland and country.
And amidst the vast ocean, that spirit continues to spread through practical actions, building up our homeland's seas and islands to become increasingly prosperous, beautiful, and peaceful.
