My Khe Beach is the most beautiful beach in Quang Ngai province. For many years, this beach has continuously suffered from strong waves causing erosion. Recently, the situation has become even more serious.
Along a coastline approximately 2km long, many sections are directly battered by waves, washing away the protective layer of sand and causing severe coastal erosion.
In many places, soil and rocks have been pulled into the sea, forming steep cliffs nearly 2 meters high. The once gently sloping coastline has become jagged, posing a risk of further erosion if large waves and high tides persist. Not only is the sandy shoreline being eroded, but the coastal mangrove and coconut forests, once considered a natural "shield" against waves and wind, have also been uprooted, leaving only exposed roots.
To combat the large waves, some buildings and restaurants along the coast have proactively placed rocks on the shore. However, the water's edge, which used to be tens of meters away, has now encroached and is constantly pushing against the rocky shore. According to local residents, the erosion of My Khe beach has been occurring for many years.
