Ms. Vu Thuc Hue (77 years old), former nurse at Nam Khe Son Hospital (Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi, China):
Vietnamese friends welcome very thoughtfully!
In 1971, at the age of 23, I was a Chinese delegate attending the Vietnam National Day celebration. Unexpectedly, more than 40 years later, I had the opportunity to return to Vietnam, fulfilling my wish to visit Vietnam once again. Although I am at a rare age, I still want to contribute my efforts to fostering the Vietnam-China friendship.

I feel enthusiastic and honored to attend the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory. I will tell my friends about the jubilant atmosphere of the Vietnamese people, about the speech of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the 94-year-old veteran who was a Dien Bien soldier so that they can feel the joyful and jubilant atmosphere today; so as not to forget the past, to continue to build the country and to foster the friendship between Vietnam and China.
Your reception was very thoughtful. When it started to rain heavily, the staff quickly opened umbrellas for us and then ran out in the rain quite far from our seats to get raincoats, making sure we weren't wet or cold before continuing their work while you were soaked. I was very touched.
Ms. Luu Diem Thanh (68 years old), former medical staff of Nam Khe Son Hospital:
Vietnamese rice like home rice
Chinese and Vietnamese cuisines have many similarities. The Vietnamese dishes we enjoyed yesterday were all dishes we usually cook at home, although the flavors were different. Chinese dishes are sweet and spicy, while Vietnamese dishes are sour. I think this difference is because the climate in Vietnam is hotter than China's, and according to Oriental medicine, adding sourness is to cool the body. I was most impressed with the crispy pork skin dish. The skin was crispy, dipped with a unique seasoning. The fat layer did not feel greasy when eaten, but melted in the mouth. Yesterday everyone enjoyed their meal.

Steamed fish is also very delicious, not much different from Chinese fish. The fish meat is soft, cut into pieces, has no fishy smell, and has green onions and dill inside, the flavor is very special.
Arriving in Dien Bien Phu, I and the members of the Chinese delegation visited the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum. The heroic historical picture of the past appeared before my eyes very realistically through images, relics, and real scenes. The vestiges of President Ho and the predecessors of the Vietnamese revolution, and the Chinese advisory group made me feel close. You have done a very good job of preserving and embellishing.
Today’s parade was very grand. Each soldier was in high spirits, with a straight posture and neat movements, showing that they had put a lot of effort into this important event. We felt the youthfulness and pride of the Vietnamese people.

Heroic parade
At the age of 87, this is the first time I have come to the historic land of Dien Bien, I am very excited to attend the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory. Although it was raining, I did not feel cold or tired. The soldiers practiced hard and performed very well in today's parade. The parade formation recreated the heroic spirit of the victory that "resounded throughout the five continents, shook the world"; demonstrating the youthfulness and the continuous growth and maturity of the Vietnamese revolutionary armed forces.
