Accordingly, the Working Group surveyed the Rach Soi - Ben Nhut - Go Quao - Vinh Thuan route at the intersection of National Highway 61 (Go Quao commune) and Provincial Road DT962 through Xang Cut ferry (Vinh Tuy commune); listened to the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board and the People's Committees of An Giang and Ca Mau provinces report to the Working Group on the implementation status of the Project.
According to the report of the An Giang Department of Construction, the Ho Chi Minh Road project has a total length of 51.94 km through two provinces. Of which, the project passes through Kien Giang province (now An Giang province) for 45.3 km; Bac Lieu province (now Ca Mau province) for 6.67 km. The project is invested by the Ho Chi Minh Project Management Board, with a total investment of more than 3,904 billion VND. Construction started in March 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2025.
Currently, the project has handed over 43.533 km/45.3 km of land to the Investor, reaching 96.16% . The total recovered area is 158.11 ha/2,156 households. Currently, contractors have approached to construct 24/25 bridges and roads that have been handed over, and are implementing the construction of 3 resettlement areas (1.7 ha) for affected people.
In 2025, the capital for site clearance will be over 177 billion VND; currently, more than 109/177 billion VND has been disbursed, reaching 62%. The cumulative construction output to date is about 1,163.5/2,800.67 billion VND, reaching 41.54%. According to Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Giang Thanh Khoa, the locality is currently directing specialized agencies to provide records and documents related to site clearance and resettlement of the Ho Chi Minh Road project to promptly hand over the site. At the same time, directing the transfer of about 200,000m3 of various types of stone from the North-South Expressway project's stone source that is no longer needed to the Ho Chi Minh Road project.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan emphasized: The Ho Chi Minh Road project is a people's project, with the meaning of connecting the country and being a national symbol. Therefore, the implementation needs to be drastic, methodical and closely follow each stage.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan requested the Ministry of Construction to have a separate report on the progress of the two sections Rach Soi - Ben Nhat and Go Quao - Vinh Thuan, clarifying each task and each timeline to report to the National Assembly in October 2025.
The Ministry of Construction and the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board closely coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, An Giang and Ca Mau provinces to grasp the current situation, specifically report on the progress of implementation, especially the work of site clearance and resettlement; actively mobilize and support people to relocate, arrange resettlement areas, pay compensation according to regulations, including support for house rent while waiting for new housing; inspect and review each specific case, listen to the thoughts and aspirations of the people, resolve in accordance with the law, ensuring reason and emotion.
