According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao, Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association, the Ministry of Industry and Trade 's stance is to eliminate mineral gasoline. E10 is not a single product but encompasses many types such as E10RON95, E10RON97, etc.

"Drawing lessons from the implementation of E5 gasoline, the regulatory agency may consider completely eliminating RON 95-III mineral gasoline and only selling bio-gasoline," Mr. Bao said.
According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association, current regulations on petroleum business stipulate that the State only manages commonly consumed petroleum products at emission standards levels 2 and 3; higher levels are managed by businesses. Therefore, businesses may still be allowed to continue selling higher-grade mineral gasoline such as RON 95-V.
However, according to a representative of a major petroleum distribution company, the latest information he has is that when E10 bioethanol fuel is widely available, mineral gasoline, including RON 95-V, will be phased out.
"This is a reasonable solution for both consumers and businesses. A retail store cannot sell many items simultaneously because it involves mixing, dispensing pumps, logistics, etc.," said a representative of the aforementioned business.
Since August 1st, some Petrolimex and PVOIL gas stations have been test-selling E10 gasoline, a biofuel with a 10% ethanol content, higher than E5 gasoline (5% ethanol), in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong.
Each liter of E10 gasoline is about 240 VND/liter cheaper than RON 95-III mineral gasoline (a common consumer product on the market). However, many consumers are still quite hesitant to use this product due to concerns about its quality and potential impact on vehicle engines, especially for cars and large-displacement motorcycles.
Mr. Minh Viet, residing on Thai Ha Street, Hanoi , stated that his vehicle is a large displacement model, so he hasn't decided whether to switch to E10 gasoline and continues to use RON 95-V. "I'm willing to use E10, but I need to carefully research whether my vehicle is compatible with it," he said.
