This achievement marks her emotional return after years of stepping back to focus on management.

35 years dedicated to traditional art.

As a student of the 3rd cohort (1990-1992) of the Folk Song and Bài Chòi Drama major at the Binh Dinh College of Culture and Arts (now Quy Nhon College of Technology), Bang Chau entered the profession in 1992, belonging to the generation of actors who matured right from the "cradle" of the Binh Dinh Folk Song and Bài Chòi Drama Troupe.

Here, she honed her discipline and perseverance, and cultivated a deep love for the stage.

Throughout her long acting career, she has taken on roles ranging from supporting and leading roles to protagonists and antagonists requiring deep emotional depth, which has forged her into a passionate artist dedicated to her craft.

"The stage taught me how to endure hardship and how to love my profession. Each role is a different life, and I have to live it to the fullest," shared Meritorious Artist Bang Chau.

Throughout her career, actress Bang Chau has participated in many outstanding performances of the Binh Dinh Bai Choi Opera Troupe at national professional theater festivals, leaving a strong mark through roles that showcase her versatility, such as: Silver Medal for the role of the maid Cam Nhung in the play "Princess Huyen Tran" (1995), Gold Medal for the role of Bach Thi Ha in the play "The Missing Convicted Prisoner" (1998), Gold Medal for the role of Mother Buoi in the play "My Mother in Those Days" (2011).

Along with her role as Bui Thi Xuan, she was awarded a silver medal for the play "The Tragic Song" (2013) and a gold medal for the play "The Shining Mountains and Rivers" (2019). Based on her long history of achievements, Bang Chau was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 2012.

With her talent, ethics, and tireless work ethic, in 2020, Meritorious Artist Bang Chau was entrusted with the important responsibility of Deputy Director of the Traditional Arts Theater of Binh Dinh province.

Her new job requires her to dedicate a significant amount of time to organizational tasks and other important activities of the unit. This is not an easy decision for an artist who has been inseparable from music and stage lights for many years.

"I'm happy to take on this new responsibility, but also sad because I miss the stage. Every time I see the young performers rehearsing, I want to step onto the stage and feel the rhythm and excitement in my heart," she confided.

Continue to showcase your talent on stage.

This year, as the theater participates in two major festivals, Meritorious Artist Bang Chau decided to return. She played Colonel Lan in the play "The Devil's Game" at the 5th National Professional Theater Arts Festival on the "Image of the People's Police Officer" - 2025; and embodied Mrs. Hong in the play "The River Tells Stories" at the 2025 National Traditional Opera and Folk Drama Festival.

Five years away from the stage is not a short time, and upon returning, she worried about losing her skills. But two roles, two distinct emotional nuances, proved her talent as a skilled artist, and she continued to receive high praise: a silver medal for the role of Colonel Lan and a gold medal for the role of Mrs. Hong.

"The happiest thing is that I can still stand on stage. The two medals are not only a personal joy, but also an affirmation of the efforts of the entire theater team," Meritorious Artist Bang Chau shared with a smile.

Colonel Lan's role doesn't have much screen time, but it demands emotional restraint, expressive eye acting, and tight dialogue delivery. She successfully portrays the image of a steadfast and level-headed female police officer in the battle of wits between good and evil.

"This role helped me reactivate my emotions after many years away from the stage," she said.

In "The River Tells Stories," Meritorious Artist Bang Chau chose to act with genuine emotion, letting her heart guide her singing, breathing, and gaze. Her role as Mrs. Hong spans a period of time, from a young wife to a mother who has suffered many losses, and finally to an old, blind woman.

The most emotionally charged scene is when, after 15 years, Mrs. Hong reunites with her son, Binh. Their house has been destroyed by the enemy, she is blind, and her grief for her son and her anger intertwine as she believes Binh has defected to the enemy.

“During that scene, I felt like my heart was being torn apart. The mother loved her child unconditionally, but was also consumed by rage. I lowered my voice, speaking slowly, as if each word conveyed a searing pain,” said Meritorious Artist Bang Chau emotionally about her role.

The return of Meritorious Artist Bang Chau to the stage is not only a professional milestone but also an affirmation of the artist's enduring dedication. Each time she returns, she brings with her a story, a breath of life, a slice of her life.

“The role of Mrs. Hong is probably the last role I will participate in at the National Professional Theatre Festival. I will continue to step backstage, dedicating my time to management and passing on my skills to the younger generation, guiding them to grow and establish themselves on stage, continuing the legacy of previous generations in bringing Bài Chòi folk opera to conquer audiences,” Meritorious Artist Bang Chau confided.
