The first match day of SEA V.League 2025 ended with complete joy for both highly rated teams, Vietnam and Thailand, however, the developments brought many contrasting emotions.
Vietnam women's volleyball team impressive start when easily defeating Indonesia with a score of 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-22). This victory not only helped coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team win all 3 points but also brought 4.11 bonus points on the world rankings.

With the total accumulated points increased, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team officially rose to 24th place in the world - the highest ranking in the history of women's volleyball in the country. A proud milestone!
In the remaining match, host Thailand faced many difficulties against the Philippines. A big surprise happened when Thailand lost quickly 17-25 in the first set.
Although the region's number one team later showed their mettle to come back and win 3-1 (26-24, 25-20, 25-20), the Philippines' brave performance also deserves praise. At the end of the first round, Vietnam temporarily led the group thanks to a better goal difference than Thailand.
