1. Famous crab noodle soup for over 40 years at Binh Tay market
For over 40 years, the crab noodle soup of Mrs. Pham Thi Lan’s family (64 years old) located in the century-old Binh Tay market has been a familiar address for many diners. Many diners visit the famous Binh Tay market (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City), sometimes just to eat Mrs. Lan’s crab noodle soup.
The restaurant is located at the end of the market, next to other restaurants and drinks located close together to form a culinary area. Ms. Lan said that before 1975, her mother opened a noodle stall selling noodles in the Cai market area (also located in Cho Lon area) to raise 7 children (5 girls, 2 boys) with her husband.

"Since I was 14 years old, I followed my mother to help sell crab noodle soup. People often called it Mrs. 9's crab noodle soup stall, but it didn't have any sign. After selling for a few years, I inherited my mother's recipe and started my own stall, selling around Binh Tay market. At that time, I wasn't even 20 years old yet!", the owner said.
The noodle soup here is a combination of rice flour noodles with shrimp, crab, fish cake, chicken gizzard, duck blood, pig's feet... Add a little thick broth and sprinkle some onions, coriander, and pepper on top and it's "perfect".
2. The strange "1-hour waiting for noodle soup" in Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City has no shortage of delicious noodle soup restaurants, but Mr. Hai's restaurant (57 years old) located in an alley 351 Bui Minh Truc Street (District 8) with many diners is not only delicious but also strange, also known as "waiting noodle soup".
There were times when many customers were willing to wait 30 minutes - 1 hour to enjoy a bowl of banh canh at a popular restaurant that has been around for nearly 40 years, because they were afraid that... the restaurant would sell out in 2 hours. "It's normal for many people to wait 30 minutes to 1 hour when eating here. One is that the banh canh here is delicious, two is that it's cheap, and three is that it's close to home. Out of 30 days in a month, I've eaten here 25 days," a regular customer shared.

More than 40 years ago, Mr. Hai and his sister opened this restaurant. He stood and sold, his sister cooked. After more than a year, his sister stopped selling, and he decided to keep this restaurant open to make a living. The restaurant owner said that the rumor that the restaurant sold out in 2 hours was only on busy days, weekends, but normally the restaurant opens at 12 noon, sometimes until 5 pm.
3. Half a century of banh canh of 3 sisters in Ho Chi Minh City
The pork leg noodle soup shop of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Thoa's family (59 years old) at R1 Phu Lam A residential area (District 6, Ho Chi Minh City) has been known by word of mouth among diners for more than half a century, making many people fascinated by the "super big" pork leg in the bowl.
Ms. Thoa confided that her parents started this noodle shop in 1972, also in the Phu Lam residential area, to make a living. At first, it was just a small noodle stall that her parents carried everywhere, cooking with charcoal. Because of the delicious taste of the noodle, it was loved by many people and the number of customers increased day by day. Up to now, the shop has been passed down through 2 generations.

"At that time, I was still very young, and I still remember the image of my parents carrying rice noodles to sell on the street to support my sisters. I was the second oldest sister in the family, so I often helped my parents sell rice noodles. It was thanks to this rice noodle stall that we had the rice noodle shop today and our five sisters were raised by our parents," the woman recounted.
4. Crab noodle soup "no staff" for 40 years
From the noodle shop passed down by his late mother, the whole family of Mr. Vu (52 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) together inherited and developed it. The shop is located at the foot of Calmette Bridge (District 1).
Mr. Vu confided that there are no employees in this restaurant because they are all his blood relatives. Each person has a task, and they have been doing it very "skilledly" for many years.

It seems that everyone living around this area knows about Mr. Vu's family's noodle shop, which was opened by his mother 40 years ago. At first, it was just a small stall at a nearby intersection. The owner recalls that at that time, the shop was as crowded as it is now, his mother was the main business, and his sisters helped her.
Later, his mother passed away. He inherited her restaurant, then rented a space here to open a more spacious restaurant, which has been open for nearly 10 years. Partly because he loved the business, the noodle brand that his mother spent her whole life building, and partly because he also loved the job, he decided to inherit and promote it until the following days.
