The press contributes to building a "lean, efficient, strong, and modern" army.

On the afternoon of January 8th, the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army held a conference to summarize the work of the entire army's press and publishing activities in 2025 and to outline directions and tasks for 2026.

In 2025, the global and regional situation will be complex; non-traditional security challenges, especially natural disasters and catastrophes, will severely impact many countries. Domestically, many important political events will take place; the entire Party, people, and army will vigorously implement many major policies and decisions; and hostile forces will continue to oppose the Party, the State, and the military.

In that context, with the close attention and guidance of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense , and the General Political Department, the press and publishing work throughout the army in 2025 closely followed the central political tasks and achieved many important and comprehensive results.

Notably, leadership, guidance, and management of the press have been implemented rigorously and uniformly; agencies and units have strictly complied with the regulations of the Party, the State, and the Ministry of National Defense regarding press and publishing activities.

Information and propaganda work was organized synchronously, promptly, and in the right direction, creating a positive media effect for major events of the country and the army, especially activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, party congresses at all levels, and the 12th Congress of the Party Committee of the Army.

Military press continues to play a core role in disseminating information on military and national defense tasks; actively innovating content and presentation styles; and improving the quality of specialized pages, sections, radio and television programs, print newspapers, online newspapers, and digital platforms.

The work of defending the Party's ideological foundation and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints has been carried out decisively and effectively, contributing to guiding public opinion and strengthening the trust of cadres, soldiers, and the people in the Party, the State, and the army.

Speaking at the conference, Senior General Truong Thien To acknowledged and commended the outstanding results of the entire army's press and publishing work in 2025; he highly appreciated the close and effective coordination of central and local press agencies in disseminating information on military and national defense tasks and building the image of the Vietnam People's Army.

General Truong Thien To affirmed that the press is a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, playing a particularly important role in shaping public opinion and maintaining the ideological battleground within the army.

2026 is the year of the 14th National Congress of the Party, the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to People's Councils at all levels; the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 12th Congress of the Party Committee of the Army, placing increasingly high demands on press and publishing work.

Agencies and units will continue to thoroughly understand the leadership and guidance of the Party, the State, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the General Political Department; enhance the effectiveness of state management of press and publishing; promote digital transformation of the press; innovate the content and methods of propaganda; strengthen the struggle to protect the ideological foundation of the Party; proactively coordinate the dissemination of information on military, national defense, and defense diplomacy tasks, contributing to building a "lean, strong, and modern" army, meeting the requirements of the mission in the new situation.

At the conference, the Minister of National Defense and the Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army announced commendation decisions for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in directing, disseminating information through the press and publishing on military and national defense tasks and the Vietnam People's Army.

Saigon Liberation Newspaper is one of 20 organizations honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Minister of National Defense on this occasion.
