Typically, a work of prose (story, essay, memoir, etc.) reaches the public through newspapers and other media. Few people would read an entire short story aloud to friends for their enjoyment; this form of communication is more for personal feedback. Similarly, music, photographs, and stage scripts will spread more widely if they are printed and published in newspapers (both print and online).

In the digital age, information channels, social networks, and individual artists can all "self-publish" their works on personal pages (Zalo, Facebook, Viber, etc.), but perhaps the best option remains relying on the press. With its unique strengths and diverse audience, the press is increasingly spreading its influence more widely and deeply into literary and artistic life. The portraits, lives, and works of artists and writers appearing in newspapers implicitly reflect the atmosphere, form, and content of artistic life. At the same time, it portrays the inner world of a segment of the public, fostering positive values among the general population. For many years, the press in Bac Giang has persistently done this.
Newspapers and magazines are the primary platforms for publishing and showcasing the literary and artistic works of authors. Readers can follow the growth and success of their favorite writers. From their early poems and short stories, those authors may now be renowned poets and writers. Interestingly, today, readers can interact directly with the editorial staff or authors through the internet, further motivating creative endeavors.

Readers, through newspapers of a bygone era, came to know the works of famous writers such as Nguyen Tuan, Nam Cao, Ngo Tat To, Vu Trong Phung, Nguyen Binh, To Hoai, Huy Can, Xuan Dieu… Later, there were poems and prose pieces that “stood the test of time,” or strongly reflected the spirit of the times, by writers and poets such as Nguyen Dinh Thi, Pham Tien Duat, Luu Quang Vu, Xuan Quynh, Nguyen Thi, Nguyen Minh Chau, Nguyen Trung Thanh, Bao Ninh, Trung Trung Dinh, Thanh Thao, Huu Thinh… Following that, there was the opportunity to encounter works with a fresh and unique style by writers and poets such as Viet Phuong, Nguyen Huy Thiep, Nguyen Quang Thieu, Nguyen Thi Thu Hue… and many other authors of the next generation, young authors.
Through the press, the public learns about the activities of various art forms such as music , photography, fine arts, and theater, each with its own unique value at different historical periods. Different segments of the public have created market niches in contemporary art. The performing arts, music, film, and fine arts clearly demonstrate this. The press also serves as a platform for readers to find information about their favorite artists and works. Many art exhibitions have sold a large number of paintings thanks to press coverage. Concerts can be packed and sold out because of media attention.
It can be said that the press not only contributes to spreading literary and artistic life but also serves as a friend and a trusted platform for artists to share their creations. Personally, before becoming a writer, I had several works published in the Bac Giang newspaper. Later, working at the Song Thuong Magazine editorial office, I realized even more clearly that the press, especially literary journalism, is truly a forum for authors passionate about and who love literature and art. Currently, with 185 members of the Bac Giang Literature and Arts Association, two-thirds of them have their works published or featured in local and national newspapers.
Over the years, provincial media outlets such as Bac Giang Newspaper, the Provincial Radio and Television Station, and Song Thuong Magazine have consistently served as platforms for disseminating literary and artistic works. Bac Giang Newspaper, published daily, weekend, and monthly, has dedicated sections specifically for literature and art. Readers will find a substantial and thriving community of provincial artists and writers, demonstrating continuity and achieving many encouraging accomplishments. The generation of writers who emerged during the resistance against the American war includes: Ngo Dat, Tran Quyen, Trinh Dinh Chieu, Nguyen An Thu, Bui The Can, Te Nhi Can... Following them are Do Nhat Minh, To Hoan, Duy Phi, Anh Vu, Do Vinh… Continuing the legacy are Tan Quang, Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong, Van Thanh, Quang Dai… and numerous other young authors.
Readers are familiar with stage artists such as: Văn Tân, Trần Thông, Hương Quế, Hồng Tính, Thanh Nhàn, Hùng Việt, Thanh Hải, Quang Lâm, Quỳnh Mai, Hồng Liên…; photographers such as: Vương Lâm, Linh Giang, Nguyễn Hữu Thông, Việt Hưng, Trung Uyên…; folk culture researchers such as: Nguyễn Đình Bưu, Nguyễn Xuân Cần, Trần Văn Lạng, Nguyễn Văn Phong…; painters such as: Trương Đình Hào, Văn Tơn, Lưu Thế Hân, Duy Lập, Vũ Công Trí, Bùi Ngọc Lân…; musicians such as: Trần Minh, Tạ Quang Tố, Lương Ngọc Chấn, Tuấn Khương, Bá Đạt, Ngọc Thạch, Xuân Oánh… and many other artists and writers. Architects specializing in architecture have also participated in the design and construction of many large projects in the province.
The literary and artistic life in the province is depicted more vividly in the press through news and articles about photo festivals, art exhibitions, thematic workshops, art seminars, and summaries of creative camps…
In today's era, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the perceptions of most people. AI has replaced humans in many things, including some writing, drawing, and creative activities; however, one thing AI cannot replace is the emotion from the heart of an artist. Of course, AI also cannot replace journalists when it comes to creating specific works with an authentic and unique perspective. Journalism will remain the best tool for disseminating knowledge to the public in all fields, especially in spreading literary and artistic life to nurture the human soul and help spiritual values endure over time.
