Initiated in Japan in 2004 by Suntory Corporation, Mizuiku is an educational initiative aimed at fostering awareness of water conservation and protection among elementary school students. Vietnam was the first country outside Japan selected to implement the program in 2015 under the name "Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water".

Based on active learning methods from Japan, the Mizuiku program has been localized to suit the context and water resource challenges in Vietnam. The program is comprehensively designed with activities both inside and outside the school, aiming to stimulate students' creativity and critical thinking, and foster an awareness of nature conservation in future generations.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam.

The sustainable education model places students at the center and trains teachers to become inspiring role models for future generations. 2023 marked a significant milestone when Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam entered into a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education and Training. The Mizuiku program materials were reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Education and Training to become the main curriculum for primary schools nationwide, laying the foundation for the program's expansion across 34 provinces and cities across the country.

After a decade, Mizuiku has become a flagship program in water education, nurturing awareness in nearly 1 million students, training 16,000 teachers to become "inspirational leaders," and constructing and renovating nearly 200 clean water facilities, contributing to improved access to clean water for over 5 million people nationwide, affirming Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam's pioneering role in sustainable development.

One of the key factors contributing to the success of “Mizuiku – I Love Clean Water” in Vietnam is its strategic and effective public-private partnership model. The close collaboration between the Government , various ministries, and Suntory PepsiCo has transformed the program from a development initiative into a nationwide educational initiative.

On this occasion, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, under the patronage of the Japanese Embassy, organized a creative competition on water resource protection for students, teachers, and the community from July to August 2025. In just two months, the competition attracted nearly 1,000 entries nationwide, with participants spanning various age groups and diverse formats such as drawings for students aged 6-15, poster designs for young people aged 16-40, and creative lesson plans from elementary school teachers.

The overall first, second, third, and most impressive awards for the Creative Pioneers group in the drawing category went to Huynh Ngoc Tue Tam (2012, Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Diep Bao Ha (2015, Da Nang), Tran Gia Han (2015, Nghe An), and Le Thi Truc Vy (2012, Lam Dong), respectively. Their artworks conveyed emotionally rich messages about water resources, showcasing the unique and insightful perspectives of children on water conservation to nurture a green future.

The top 3 Green Seedling groups: Tran Ton Bao Ngan (2009), Nguyen Phuc Gia Bao (2007), and Nguyen Ngoc Huy Khang (2009), all from Ho Chi Minh City, combined art and technology to create interesting posters with powerful messages about protecting water resources.

The most representative works will be displayed at the "Water Conservation – Nurturing the Future" Exhibition from October 1-6, 2025, at 19/12 Book Street, Hanoi. The exhibition is specially designed to simulate the "water cycle" through six interactive areas and is open to the public free of charge.
