In the early hours of May 11th, the Catalan team clinched the La Liga title after a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in El Clasico. This is the 29th domestic title in the club's history, and it also helps Barcelona further close the gap with their rival Real Madrid, who currently hold 36 national championships.
This was also Barcelona's second consecutive La Liga title and their third in the last four seasons. Besides the prestigious trophy, the Catalan team also received a substantial prize money from the league organizers.
According to La Liga's revenue-sharing mechanism, the prize money for the champion depends primarily on television broadcasting rights revenue each season. Although no official figures have been released, Spanish media predict Barcelona could receive between 60 and 90 million euros thanks to this year's championship.
In the 2022/23 season, Barcelona earned over 61 million euros after winning La Liga. However, the value of television rights has increased significantly in recent years, meaning the current prize money is projected to be considerably higher.
This revenue is considered a crucial source of funding for Barcelona, given the club's ongoing financial pressures. In particular, the Camp Nou team needs additional funds for a stadium renovation project worth approximately €1.5 billion.
In addition to prize money from La Liga, Barcelona will also receive revenue from UEFA thanks to their Champions League campaign and the Spanish Super Cup title. However, the La Liga title is expected to remain the team's biggest source of income this season.
