Inadequacies in Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro must be resolved before June 20

Recently, many items of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro line such as station roof panels, escalator covers, and walkway covers at some stations have been peeled off, tempered glass railings have been broken, tilted, and collapsed... This has made many people worried when participating in traffic.

On June 2, the leader of Hanoi Railway One Member Co., Ltd. said that the unit has developed a plan to urgently repair and fix some degraded items on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line.

Specifically, for the escalator canopy system and outdoor walkways at Thai Ha, Ring Road 3, and Van Quan stations, Hanoi Metro has completed the dismantling and replacement of all damaged locations due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi in 2023. As for the canopy at Yen Nghia station, the unit has purchased materials and is urgently implementing repairs, expected to be completed before June 5.

The roof system at the stations is still under maintenance.

Hanoi Metro added that regular inspection and maintenance of the roof system at the stations are still being carried out regularly. Regarding the equipment items in the stations, the replacement and repair of 5 camera surveillance screens (CCTV) at Yen Nghia, Ha Dong and La Thanh stations have been completed; at the same time, 55 loudspeakers at 12 stations have been repaired and replaced.

For the train information display system (LED PIS), the maintenance unit has temporarily adjusted and fixed the error to ensure that passengers can track train arrival and departure times at all 12 stations. The complete repair is expected to be completed before June 20.

In addition, procedures for purchasing materials to repair the automatic ticket vending machines are being implemented. These are components manufactured according to orders from 2014-2015, not available on the market, so it takes time to order and transport to Vietnam. The repair is expected to be completed by October 2025.

Regarding the two pilot projects of public drinking water machines and phone charging stations at La Khe Station, Hanoi Metro, this is part of the model station development model. However, after assessing the demand for use, the quality of the water source (currently not meeting the standards for direct drinking water), as well as the short waiting time for the train which is not suitable for charging devices, the investor decided not to continue operating these two projects.
