STO - While transporting smuggled cigarettes from Long An to Soc Trang city ( Soc Trang ) for consumption, Pham Thanh Tam, born in 1988, residing in Thanh Duc commune, Ben Luc district (Long An) was caught red-handed by the Economic Police Department of Soc Trang Provincial Police.

At around 10:00 p.m. on July 20, on the Nam Song Hau National Highway in Phung Tuong 1 Hamlet, Song Phung Commune, Long Phu District (Soc Trang), the Economic Police Department of Soc Trang Provincial Police in coordination with Long Phu District Police discovered and caught Pham Thanh Tam driving a car with license plate 51G - 268.06 transporting 5,000 packs of smuggled cigarettes.
Upon checking the vehicle, the authorities discovered that the car had license plate 62A - 129.42. The subject confessed that when he arrived in Soc Trang province, he changed the license plate to a fake one to deceive the authorities.
Currently, the police are continuing to investigate and clarify to handle the case according to the provisions of law.
