A 9-year-old girl wrote a job application letter to help prepare food, clean tables, open the door for customers... at the crab and squid noodle shop that she loves very much.

"Please consider letting me work as an assistant to help you sell more products."

The girl is Nguyen Vu Bao Tran, a student at an international bilingual school in Ho Chi Minh City (her nickname is Dau Tay).

In the job application letter, the child wrote: "Dear Ms. Thu. I am Dau Tay, I am writing to you to respectfully ask for your permission to work at Ms. My's crab noodle shop every Saturday morning. I can do the following jobs: cleaning tables, serving food/drinks, opening the door for customers. Please consider letting me work as an assistant to help you sell more customers. Thank you. Signed: Dau Tay".

Sharing with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Ms. Vu My, Tran's mother, said that both mother and daughter are addicted to crab noodle soup so they often visit the restaurant. From then on, the mother and daughter got to know the restaurant owner named Thu and Tran loved her more and more. The two of them became closer and closer, Ms. Thu shared, talked, and taught Tran many things.

During Tran's summer vacation, the noodle shop hung up a sign recruiting employees. Ms. My showed it to her daughter and encouraged her to write a job application letter.

"Actually, before that, the owner and I had the same thought that whenever the owner was at the shop and Tran had time off, Tran would stop by the shop to help her and learn from her. As for Tran, after sending her job application to her and getting accepted, she was very excited because children like to experience things they have never done before. I was also very happy because I always wanted to teach my child to be diligent and appreciate the value of their own labor," said Ms. My.

One day a week, usually Sunday afternoon, Tran is taken to the shop by her parents and helps the shop owner with some small tasks.

Children are trained to open the door for customers, clean the tables, bring food and drinks without touching the food to maintain hygiene and reputation for the restaurant. Children know how to greet customers, practice writing down the dishes that customers order, thank customers for coming...

The girl comes to the shop every Sunday during the summer.

Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Ms. Thu, owner of the crab and squid noodle shop on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, District 3, said she was very impressed with the 9-year-old girl's application letter filled with cute things. The girl wrote the letter by hand, added stickers with flowers and leaves, and captioned it "spring has come".

In particular, after being encouraged by the shop owner to "write another English version", the girl wrote a CV in English with full personal information and drew her own picture on the paper.

Ms. Thu said that the girl is very happy with the assigned tasks, always in the mindset of working long-term and seriously. In her free time, Tran often brings paper and pens to draw with her because drawing is her biggest hobby.

"There is a funny memory, that day the child was helping me watch the shop when a customer came, it was the child's parents who came to eat. The child opened the door and calmly said "Hello, what would you like to eat?". Later, the child explained "I'm working so I have to address you professionally". Usually when the child's parents picked me up, I gave the child 20,000 VND in an envelope, but the child always opened it and said to his mother "Mom, why is it so much, I have to ask Ms. Thu if she gave me the wrong amount because at first she said I only received 10,000 VND each time". A very honest and lovely child", Ms. Thu said.

Teach children about the spirit of love of work

Ms. My said that after coming home from helping at the store, her 9-year-old daughter has become more aware of labor and the value of money. For example, when she wants to buy something for her daughter, the girl says, "I like it very much, thank you, but I don't need you to buy it for me because I don't want you to waste money." She often confides in her mother, "Mom, now I understand how hard it is to earn money," which makes Ms. My very emotional.

According to Ms. My, independence is very important in every person's life, and to be independent, each person needs to have enough conditions in terms of health, intelligence, finance, and human ethics. Therefore, the spirit of work is one of the important factors to teach children to have the above things. From there, children will be confident and strong when life always has many hidden events.

The girl just finished 3rd grade and is on summer vacation.

Ms. My said that her way of raising her children was influenced by the education and boundless love of her father - Tran's grandfather.

"I often wonder whether I should teach my child to be smart or to teach them morality, but from my father's boundless love and the failures I have experienced, I have decided to teach my child to live morally. Because only by living morally can my child create blessings for himself and overcome difficulties in life," the mother of a 9-year-old girl wrote a letter applying for a job during the summer.
