On May 20th, Ms. Huynh Vuong Hieu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Duong Minh Chau commune ( Tay Ninh province), stated that the local authorities had organized a delegation to visit and offer condolences to the family of VTP (11 years old, residing in Phuoc Hoi hamlet), the victim in the dog bite incident.
According to initial information, on May 17th, P. and a friend climbed over the fence behind a house about 6km from their home to enter a fish pond area. While fishing, P. was suddenly attacked by a pack of dogs from the house, which bit and severely injured him.
Immediately after the incident, the homeowner took P. to the commune's health station for first aid and then transferred her to Children's Hospital 1 (Ho Chi Minh City) for emergency treatment.
Representatives from Children's Hospital 1 stated that the child sustained the most severe head injuries. After the wounds were sutured and initial treatment was given, the child's health is now stable and they are continuing to be monitored.
The pack reportedly consists of seven dogs, including four Bandogs and three Rottweilers – both large breeds. Local veterinary authorities stated that the dogs are kept on a fenced property and receive regular vaccinations.
The leaders of Duong Minh Chau commune further informed that P. is now out of critical condition and is continuing treatment at the hospital. The Livestock and Veterinary Station has requested the dog owner to closely monitor the dogs and report any unusual signs promptly for appropriate action.
Local authorities also stated that P.'s family is in difficult circumstances, with parents working as laborers and having unstable incomes. The commune has visited, offered encouragement, and provided some financial assistance to help the family overcome their immediate difficulties.
