Ben Tre launches "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" in 2025

BDK.VN - On the morning of May 17, 2025, at the area of the Fishing Port Management Board of Tiem Tom town, Ba Tri district, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province solemnly held the launching ceremony of "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" in 2025, practically commemorating the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025). Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Thanh Lam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh, along with representatives of the leaders of the People's Council, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and departments, branches, businesses and a large number of people attended.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh launched the Tree Planting Festival in Ba Tri district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh emphasized the significance of the tree planting movement initiated by President Ho Chi Minh in 1959. After 65 years, "Tree Planting Festival" has not only become a cultural beauty but also contributes significantly to environmental protection, climate change response and sustainable development.

Responding to the Prime Minister's call to plant 1 billion trees, Ben Tre has issued and implemented the Tree Planting Project for the 2021 - 2025 period with the goal of planting 10 million trees across the province. After more than 4 years of implementation, the locality has planted more than 5 million trees of all kinds. "Planting trees not only brings economic efficiency but also has great value in creating landscapes, protecting ecosystems, towards a green, clean and beautiful living environment" - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh said.

This year's launching ceremony is also an activity to celebrate many important events such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, especially the final year of implementing the tree planting project for the period 2021 - 2025. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on all levels, sectors, localities and all people to continue to respond positively, with practical actions such as planting trees, protecting trees, taking care of forests and limiting plastic waste, contributing to creating a sustainable living environment.

On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with sponsors, the Golden Heart Fund and districts and cities to review locations eligible for tree planting, ensuring timely completion and quality of tree planting in 2025.
