After Thailand, Indonesia is considered the second biggest rival of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet is still confident in arranging a not-so-strong squad.
Even star Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen did not play a single minute. The starting lineup of the Vietnamese team included Thanh Thuy, Kieu Trinh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nhu Quynh, Lam Oanh, Bich Thuy and libero Khanh Dang.
But after a short period when the Vietnamese women's volleyball team showed dominance, it was Thanh Thuy's turn to be given a break. Despite not using their strongest attacking players, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team still dominated.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's response was quite weak. Their number 1 star, opposite setter Megewati, did not have much room to play as her teammates around her were disjointed and lacking cohesion. The first two games were played quickly with the same score of 25-11 for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.
In game 3, more reserve players were brought onto the field such as Kim Thoa, Pham Thi Hien, and Le Thanh Thuy. At this point, the match became more exciting thanks to the dramatic chases.
At one point, Indonesia had a 21-19 advantage. Facing the risk of losing a game that would affect the points added to the world rankings, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet was forced to consult. However, he still did not let Bich Tuyen enter the field.
And this decision still did not cost him and the team. Kieu Trinh continued to perform well in her role as the opposing setter, helping the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to tie the score at 21-21. They then won 25-22, thereby ending the match with a score of 3-0 on the opening day of the SEA V.League 2025.
