Frederic Caudron was scheduled to compete in the 4th qualifying round of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup. He passed the 4th qualifying round to participate in the main round (round of 32) and was in group H, which was considered "death" with the appearance of Marco Zanetti (Italy), Sameh Sidhom (Egypt) and Peter Ceulemans (Belgium).
In the opening match of the round of 32, which took place at noon on May 23, Caudron won convincingly 40-20 against his compatriot Ceulemans, after 16 rounds. However, in the second round, the player nicknamed “billboard genius” lost 34-40 to Marco Zanetti.
Caudron entered the final match of Group H, which was decisive for their place in the round of 16, facing Sameh Sidhom. After just 11 innings, Sidhom took the match into halftime, leading Caudron 28-16.
Returning to the table after the break, Caudron suddenly gave up. The Belgian player was disqualified from this match and was also eliminated from the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup.
After the break, Caudron suddenly came to shake his opponent's hand and loosened the cue, leaving Sameh Sidhom stunned.

The Vietnamese team has 8 players competing in the round of 32 of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City Billiards World Cup, including: Tran Quyet Chien, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, Le Thanh Tien and Nguyen Van Tri, Nguyen Nhu Le, Nguyen Dinh Quoc, Dao Van Ly.
Tran Quyet Chien was the most impressive player in the round of 32, winning all 3 matches, respectively against Berkay Karakurt (Türkiye), Kim Haeng-jik and Choi Wang-young (Korea). Quyet Chien won the ticket to the round of 16 as the top player in Group D.
Dao Van Ly excelled with 3 wins in a difficult group.

Highly anticipated players like Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Thanh Luc all stopped with 3 defeats. Meanwhile, more famous faces played impressively and won tickets to the knockout round. Nguyen Nhu Le, Nguyen Dinh Quoc, Le Thanh Tien and Dao Van Ly were all in very difficult groups, but played excellently.
Dao Van Ly faced some very strong players in Group G, including: Tasdemir Tayfun (Türkiye), Tolgahan Kiraz (Türkiye) and Jeremy Bury (France). However, Van Ly won all 3 matches and continued as the group leader.
Nhu Le was in group A, winning against Mohamed Abdin (Egypt), losing to Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) and drawing with Ryuuji Umeda (Japan). The Vietnamese player entered the round of 16 as the second place in group A.
Nhu Le also played well to enter the knockout round.

Nguyen Dinh Quoc was in Group F, having defeated Glenn Hofman (Netherlands) and Heo Jung-han (South Korea), before losing to Kim Jun-tae. Dinh Quoc also advanced to the round of 16 as the second-place finisher in Group F.
Le Thanh Tien was in group C, won against Bao Phuong Vinh and Jorissen (Netherlands), then lost to Eddy Merckx (Belgium). Thanh Tien entered the round of 16 as group C's first place.
Notably, strong international players such as Cho Myung-woo (Korea, current world champion), Eddy Merckx (13-time World Cup billiards champion), Kim Jun-tae (Korea), Jeremy Bury (France)... could not get past the round of 32.
