Binh Lieu organizes New Rice Celebration

On the morning of November 2, in Luc Hon commune, Binh Lieu district, the New Rice Celebration and culinary competition of ethnic groups in Binh Lieu district took place. This is an activity within the series of events of the Culture - Tourism Week, Binh Lieu Golden Season Festival 2024.

The New Rice Celebration Ceremony has the meaning of summarizing a year of production, respectfully offering the fruits of labor, thanking heaven and earth, ancestors and praying for the family to be warm and healthy, and is also an occasion for families and clans to meet and reunite. The New Rice Celebration Ceremony has become a unique and distinctive cultural, religious and spiritual beauty preserved by the Tay ethnic people.

Also this morning, 16 teams from villages and hamlets of Luc Hon commune attended the culinary competition of ethnic groups in Binh Lieu district, which took place amid the excitement of local people and tourists.

At the New Rice Celebration ceremony held at Luc Na communal house, the shaman performed rituals to express gratitude to ancestors, heaven and earth, and pray for favorable weather, good crops, and good harvests.

An indispensable dish in the New Rice Celebration is sticky rice with ginger leaves, the main ingredients are newly harvested sticky rice and young green ginger leaves.

Tay ethnic women skillfully decorate the food competition tray.

The Thanh Phan Dao girls of Ngan Meo Tren village prepare and display the village's feast for the judges to score.

To make the village's culinary dishes truly special, the women prepared them very carefully and presented them beautifully for tourists and locals to see and enjoy.

In addition to beautiful presentation, units also have to present the dishes and the meaning of each dish of their unit.
