Binh Lieu organizes the New Rice Festival.

On the morning of November 2nd, the New Rice Harvest Festival and a culinary competition of the ethnic groups of Binh Lieu district took place in Luc Hon commune, Binh Lieu district. This activity is part of the series of events of the Binh Lieu Golden Harvest Festival and Culture - Tourism Week 2024.

The New Rice Celebration ceremony signifies the culmination of a year's production, an offering of the fruits of labor, gratitude to heaven and earth, and ancestors, and a prayer for a prosperous and healthy family. It also serves as an occasion for family and clan reunions. The New Rice Celebration has become a unique and distinctive cultural, religious, and spiritual tradition preserved by the Tay ethnic group.

Also this morning, 16 teams from villages and hamlets of Luc Hon commune participated in the ethnic food competition of Binh Lieu district, amidst the excitement of local people and tourists who came to enjoy the dishes.

At the New Rice Festival held at Luc Na communal house, the shaman performed rituals expressing gratitude to ancestors and the heavens, and praying for favorable weather, a bountiful harvest.

An indispensable dish in the New Rice Festival is sticky rice wrapped in ginger leaves, primarily made from freshly harvested glutinous rice and young, green ginger leaves.

The Tay ethnic women skillfully arranged and decorated the food platters for the culinary competition.

The Dao Thanh Phan girls from Ngan Meo Tren village prepare and arrange the village's feast for the judges to score.

To make the village's culinary offerings truly special, the women meticulously prepared and beautifully arranged the food for tourists and locals alike to admire and enjoy.

In addition to having an attractive presentation, each unit must also give a presentation about the dish and the meaning behind each dish.
