The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced on March 12th that the Ministry's Office and a valuation unit had signed a contract to appraise the value of liquidated automobiles.

Currently, the valuation unit is carrying out the work of appraising and determining the starting price, which is expected to be completed before March 20th.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, after the valuation results are available, the liquidation council will proceed with the next steps to select a unit to conduct the online auction and organize the online auction.

The above announcement from the Ministry of Industry and Trade came shortly after domestic media outlets reported on the conclusions of the Ministry of Finance's inspection regarding the use of official vehicles within the ministry.

Specifically, according to the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade manages and uses 881 automobiles, but as of December 25, 2024, it had not completed the process of handling and arranging them, lagging behind the stipulated deadline.

By the end of 2024, the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the University of Electrical Engineering were managing and using 8 vehicles in excess of the standard and prescribed limits (the Ministry's Office exceeded by 6 vehicles, and the University of Electrical Engineering exceeded by 2 vehicles).

Following comments from the Ministry of Finance's inspection agency, the Ministry of Industry and Trade affirmed that it had reviewed the entire number of vehicles currently managed and used by the Ministry's Office.

The agency also pointed out that since November 2024, the Ministry's Office had sent a document to the Planning - Finance Department (now Planning - Finance and Enterprise Management); Science and Technology Department; Legal Department; and the Ministry's Inspection Department to appoint civil servants to participate in the Council for the liquidation of automobiles managed by the Ministry's Office.

By February 3, 2025, the Liquidation Council had met to agree on a plan for selecting a valuation firm and posted the invitation to provide valuation services on the Ministry's electronic portal so that qualified units could submit applications, serving as the basis for the Ministry's Office to select the unit to carry out the work.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the invitation to provide valuation services was issued on February 6, 2025, and by the deadline for submission of applications at 4 PM on March 14, three entities had submitted applications to the Ministry's Office.

After the dossiers of the units were submitted to the members of the Liquidation Council for review, evaluation, and ranking, as a basis for submission to the leadership, the Ministry's Office issued Decision No. 292 dated March 11, 2025, selecting the unit to perform the valuation service and proceeded to sign the contract.
