On the morning of June 9th, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien held a working session with the specialized inspection team on electricity to discuss the specific requirements, content, and timeline for the inspection.
The meeting took place after the Prime Minister instructed the Minister to direct the establishment of a specialized inspection team in accordance with the law on electricity management and supply of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) from January 1, 2021 to June 1.
Accordingly, a specialized inspection team was established on June 8th, comprising leaders from the Electricity Regulatory Authority, the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department, the Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering Department, the Legal Department, the Ministry's Inspectorate, the Planning and Finance Department, and the Oil, Gas and Coal Department.
"It is necessary to clarify the supply and proactive management of fuel for power plants; the operation of the power system; the mobilization of power sources (in technical terms), fairness; power transmission issues; and the implementation of the mobilization of renewable energy sources in the transition," the Minister requested.
Along with establishing the inspection team, the Ministry of Industry and Trade leadership requested the establishment of a supervisory inspection team. "The inspection team is required to begin its work immediately from June 10th," Minister Nguyen Hong Dien directed.

| hydroelectric reservoir | lake water level/dead water level |
| Lai Chau | 266.5 m/270 m |
| Son La | 175.25 m/175 m |
| Peace | 103.44 m/80 m (minimum water level requirement is 81.9 m) |
| Thac Ba | 45.65 m/46 m (minimum requirement 46.5 m) |
| Tuyen Quang | 91.1 m/90 m (minimum requirement: 90.7 m) |
| Chat | 432.14 m/431 m |
The Minister requested the inspection team to work fairly and objectively, based on the provisions of the law and the regulations and directives of competent authorities and agencies; and the situation and results of EVN's implementation. Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, on behalf of the Minister, directly supervised the inspection.

On June 9th, the Department of Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering reported that nationwide, water inflow into hydropower reservoirs increased slightly compared to yesterday but remained low. Water levels in reservoirs in the Northern, North Central, and Southeastern regions were low, with some reservoirs at or below the dead water level.
The water inflow into the reservoir is primarily for regulating water flow to ensure minimum flow rates. Hydropower plants operate using the inflow of water to generate electricity. The majority of plants that have to shut down are concentrated in the Northern and North Central regions to ensure the safety of the generating units when operating with flow rates and water heads below design levels, making it difficult to meet the electricity generation requirements according to operating procedures.
Several reservoirs are still at dead water levels, including Lai Chau, Son La, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Ban Ve, Hua Na, Thac Mo, and Tri An. Hydropower plants have had to cease operation due to insufficient water flow and reservoir levels, including Son La, Lai Chau, Huoi Quang, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Hua Na, Trung Son, and Tri An.
