"Working under the sun" keeps the electricity flowing smoothly.
(Baohatinh.vn) - As outdoor temperatures consistently exceed 40 degrees Celsius, employees of Ha Tinh Power Company continue to work tirelessly on the power grid. Behind the lights in every home and the stability of every production line lies the unceasing effort of those who are working day and night to keep the electricity flowing smoothly.

The intense heatwave over the past few days has led to a sharp increase in electricity demand. Mr. Mai Thanh Tung, Head of the Dispatching Department of Ha Tinh Power Company, stated: " On June 2nd, the peak power (Pmax) of the Ha Tinh power grid reached 441.7 MW, an increase of 21.7% compared to the same period in 2025; the total electricity consumption in the province exceeded 7.3 million kWh, an increase of 15.87% compared to the highest consumption day of the previous year ." The load in many areas has surged, putting significant pressure on the power system. To ensure a safe and continuous power supply during the hot season, Ha Tinh Power Company has been implementing many effective and comprehensive solutions. Power companies are intensifying inspections of equipment load conditions; balancing phases, distributing loads, rotating and replacing transformers to suit the actual electricity consumption needs of each residential area and industrial load in the region. The Thach Thanh 11 substation, with a capacity of 180 kVA, is currently experiencing low load, while the Thach Tien 4 substation (Thach Ha commune) frequently operates near full load. To optimize power supply, Thach Ha Power Company has implemented a plan to swap transformers between the two areas.
Amidst the scorching heat, the task force carried out each stage of dismantling, lifting, transporting, and connecting the equipment with urgency and precision.
Sweat drenched their shirts, heat radiating onto their faces, but the workers still performed every task carefully and professionally, ensuring absolute safety and minimizing the power outage time.
The intense heat is not what worries the electricians. What they are always concerned about is how to complete the work as quickly and accurately as possible to restore electricity to the people as soon as possible. Having dedicated 33 years to his profession, Mr. Nguyen Hai Van, an operator at Thach Ha Power Company, is all too familiar with working shifts under the scorching sun, during peak load seasons, and the pressure of maintaining a safe and stable power supply. " The hotter it gets, the higher the demand for electricity, which means we have to stay close to the grid to monitor and promptly address any potential abnormalities, " Mr. Van shared.
After being dismantled, the transformer at Thach Thanh 11 substation was quickly hoisted onto a specialized vehicle for transportation to its new location.
At the site, officers from the Safety Department of Ha Tinh Power Company, along with leaders from Thach Ha Power Company, directly inspected and supervised the technical and occupational safety plans. Mr. Nguyen Duy Sang - Deputy Head of Thach Ha Power Company (far right) said: " In the context of high load demand, load balancing, phase balancing, and transformer rotation are important solutions to reduce the risk of overload and contribute to improving the reliability of electricity supply during the hot season ." In many other localities in the province, power grid management and operation forces are also working hard to cope with the summer load pressure. At Cam Xuyen Power Company, task forces are continuously present on-site to inspect and handle defects arising on the grid. Besides the increased demand for household electricity, the electricity load at Thien Cam Tourist Area is also increasing sharply as the tourist season begins. Cam Xuyen Power Company manages over 327 km of medium-voltage lines, over 770 km of low-voltage lines, and 377 substations spread across various terrains. This poses a significant challenge to technical management, especially in extreme weather conditions. Mr. Tran Quang Nhat, Deputy Head of Cam Xuyen Power Company, said: " Specifically in June, we aim to balance the phases of 40 transformers and rotate 10 transformers to ensure stable operation, reduce power losses, and limit the risk of overload." Despite the scorching sun, many female workers remain dedicated to maintaining the power grid and working on the site. On the low-voltage power line in Cam Xuyen commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha (born in 1972) and her colleagues are still busy carrying out tasks such as maintaining the power grid, replacing meter boxes, and assisting with operation.
" Although we don't directly climb poles or pull ropes like our male colleagues, working in extreme heat is still a challenge for us. We women often take advantage of the early morning hours to start work, ensuring both our health and the successful completion of our assigned tasks, " Ms. Ha revealed. With sun-tanned faces and beads of sweat rolling down their cheeks, the female electricity worker's smile is always present whenever the work is completed on schedule.
Working long hours in harsh weather conditions is a challenge for electricians. To support the workers, Ha Tinh Power Company has equipped them with specialized protective equipment such as air-conditioned jackets, wide-brimmed sun hats, and other health care items for the summer.
During the recent heatwaves, the Board of Directors and the Trade Union of Ha Tinh Power Company directly visited work sites, giving gifts to encourage the teams on duty on the power grid. These timely words of encouragement, boxes of milk, bottles of cool water in the midday heat, and the care from leaders and colleagues have become a source of motivation, helping workers remain steadfast on the job. Amidst the scorching sun, beads of sweat constantly roll down the faces of the electricians; the work is arduous and stressful, yet smiles remain on their lips. Their dedication and silent contributions are helping to ensure a stable power supply for daily life, production, and business, keeping the rhythm of life and economic activity uninterrupted during peak hot days. The laughter and lively conversations at the end of their shifts helped alleviate some of their fatigue, becoming a source of joy that kept them persistent and committed to their profession.
