The Ministry of Education and Training requested the Hanoi College of Economics and Technology to report the suspension of more than 100 students without reason.

The recruitment subjects are officials, civil servants working at state agencies, organizations, private enterprises, armed forces (with high school diploma or higher), students studying at secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

Activities related to distance learning and self-study are assigned autonomy and responsibility to Hateco Online Training Center, directly managed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Vuong, Vice Principal of the school (retired).

However, the school's online training program has received many negative comments related to organization, management and student training.

A student of the school said that in June 2022, he registered to take an additional distance learning college class, Course 12, Japanese language major, of Hanoi College of Economics and Technology.

However, in early November 2024, she suddenly received a call from an online training teacher informing her that the school was having trouble with in-person classes, so all online classes had to be suspended.

The female student was upset because she had paid more than 24 million VND to study the school's distance learning program, and had only one semester left to finish the program, but was stopped halfway through and was not granted a degree as promised and required.

Along with this student, more than 100 students studying in this program suddenly received notice of suspension of study.

Up to this point, after half a year, students still cannot continue studying, facing the risk of not being granted a diploma, seriously affecting their legitimate rights.

According to many students, all tuition fees were transferred to the personal account of Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Vuong.

Another student said that during the entire study period, the E-Learning Center and Ms. Vuong only contacted each other to collect tuition fees, conduct periodic tests, and organize national defense and security training. Besides, there were almost no updates on the study path or necessary instructions.

Before resigning on May 26, in response to the press, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tan, in his position as Principal of Hanoi College of Economics and Technology, said that when taking over the school, he discovered many serious violations related to the online training program managed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Vuong and her team.

According to Mr. Tan, the first violation was regarding training costs and financial issues. During the enrollment process for two online training courses, all student tuition fees were paid into Ms. Vuong’s personal account, only a few students transferred money to the school’s account.

The second violation is related to expertise. Mr. Tan said that all software and learning materials for the distance learning program were prepared by Ms. Vuong herself. The school was not notified, nor was there any review or assessment of the validity, quality or suitability of the learning materials with current regulations.

Responding to students' questions about unusual signs in the distance learning system at Hanoi College of Economics and Technology, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tan said that before taking over the school, he did not know about the existence of this group of students.

Mr. Dao Duc Nghiep has been appointed as Vice Principal in charge. However, Mr. Nghiep has not officially accepted the position and is not present at the school, so the school temporarily has no representative to speak.

Mr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh, Deputy Director of the Department of Vocational Education and Continuing Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said he was aware of the incident and was asking the school to report and send a specialized department to inspect.
