The Minister said that the high school graduation exam taking place at the end of June this year has many special features. This is the final exam of the 2018 generaleducation program, and at the same time, it still has to be held in parallel for a number of students following the old program. This doubles the complexity of the exam questions and candidates compared to previous years.
Graduation exam with many special features
The education sector has carefully considered the exam date, although there were opinions on holding the exam earlier, after analyzing and agreeing with the Departments, the Ministry of Education has decided to keep the same time frame. Currently, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long is directing the Ministry to establish inspection teams to supervise the preparation work. The Ministry of Education is also closely coordinating with the Ministry of Public Security in ensuring security and safety for the exam.
An important new point this year is the transportation of exam papers. For the first time, exam papers will not be transported in the traditional way but will be transferred via the secure channel of the Cipher Department (Ministry of National Defense).
“This is a huge change, overcoming previous difficulties, such as having to use helicopters to transport exam papers to Con Dao,” said the Minister of Education.
In addition to the exam, the Minister also reported on the progress of major projects such as the Project to make English a second language in schools. The Ministry of Education informed that the project has been completed and will be submitted to the Prime Minister this week.
The Ministry of Education has also completed and submitted to the Prime Minister a project to increase sending students to study abroad (especially in the former Eastern European countries).
The Ministry said the project to build boarding schools in difficult mountainous areas is currently being finalized and is guaranteed to be completed in June 2025.
Regarding the National Target Program on Education Modernization and Development, the Minister informed that the entire industry is focusing on building it and committed to completing it in June 2025 and submitting it to the National Assembly in October 2025.
Regarding teacher recruitment, the Minister said that, following the Prime Minister's direction on utilizing and recruiting all teachers according to the allocated quota, the education sector is concerned that localities will have a situation of "rushing recruitment" before the end of a certain time period, leading to the risk of recruiting the wrong person, for example, needing a Literature teacher but recruiting a Math teacher. The Ministry of Education and Training hopes that the Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate to ensure the quality of recruitment.
