According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade at the working session, the industrial production situation in Thai Nguyen province in the first 7 months of 2024 has improved; a number of enterprises have boosted production and received large-value orders, contributing to maintaining positive momentum from the last months of 2023. The province's economy is gradually recovering, each month is better than the previous month; all industries and fields have achieved many important results, creating momentum for growth in the last months of 2024. In the first 7 months of 2024, the industrial production index (IIP) is estimated to increase by 7.15% over the same period; total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at 45,145.7 billion VND, up 16.3% over the same period, equal to 59.8% of the yearly plan; consumer price index (CPI) increased by 3.62% compared to the average of the same period in 2023; Total export value of goods is estimated at 17.6 billion USD, up 12.8% over the same period and reaching 60.1% of the 2024 plan.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Trinh Viet Hung, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province emphasized: The planning of Thai Nguyen province for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 and related sectoral planning have been approved, the province is effectively organizing management and guiding the correct implementation of the viewpoints and orientations of the Provincial Planning. The province has planned 11 industrial parks and 01 concentrated information technology park with a total area of 4,245 hectares; 41 industrial clusters with a total area of 2,067 hectares, 13 golf courses. To date, Thai Nguyen has had 06 industrial parks established, of which 05 industrial parks are maintaining stable operations. Song Cong II Industrial Park - Phase 2 was approved by the Prime Minister in March 2024 with a total investment of 3,985.47 billion VND; 27/41 industrial clusters have infrastructure investors, of which 11 industrial clusters are in operation. The Provincial Planning includes many contents related to the industrial and commercial sectors such as electricity, petroleum, minerals, market, logistics, etc. In the current economic structure of Thai Nguyen, industry - construction accounts for about 60.0%; services account for about 32.8%; agriculture, forestry and fishery account for about 7.2%. The province is striving to increase the proportion of trade - services in the period of 2025 - 2030, especially expecting key resources including tourism. Thai Nguyen province hopes that the Phase 2 Iron and Steel Plant Expansion Project will continue to be implemented and resumed; request the Ministry of Industry and Trade to advise the Government on directing this content, contributing positively to the economic development of not only Thai Nguyen province but also the whole country in general. Propose that leaders of departments, divisions, and economic groups accompany and coordinate to support Thai Nguyen province to promote its potential and strengths and develop further.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized: The working trip aims to implement the Government's policy of removing difficulties and obstacles in performing economic development tasks of localities, especially key localities such as Thai Nguyen, contributing to promoting economic growth of the whole country.
Highly appreciating the recent past, the Party Committee and government of Thai Nguyen province have exploited and promoted its potentials and strengths quite well to promote local economic development and emerge as a new growth pole of the country , leading the provinces in the region and ranking 4th in the country in terms of industrial production value. Minister Nguyen Hong Dien suggested that Thai Nguyen province should focus on developing the fundamental industries in which the province has strengths, taking advantage of the advantages and achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, digital transformation and focusing on handling environmental issues, ensuring sustainable development. The province needs to promote the restructuring of the internal industrial sector, especially the processing and manufacturing industry, towards promoting groups of industries and industrial products applying high technology, with high added value, clean technology and producing export goods. Strengthening links and cooperation between domestic enterprises and FDI enterprises in the investment process, gradually participating deeply in the production, supply and global value chains. Promoting the development of supporting industries to serve the key industries and strengths of the province and the region, meeting input materials, increasing the proportion of domestic production in industrial production. The province also needs to focus on reviewing and perfecting local mechanisms and policies, ensuring synchronization and feasibility; Promote public investment to lead and mobilize social resources for investment in technical infrastructure development. Have policies to support investment in developing agricultural and forestry processing industries and exploiting available raw materials; form industrial clusters in rural and mountainous areas to solve on-site employment and narrow the income gap between localities in the province. In the field of trade, the province needs to guide and support local enterprises to make good use of opportunities from FTAs to which Vietnam is a member, especially new-generation FTAs to develop production and expand export markets. At the same time, proactively develop trade promotion plans in line with the needs and capacity of enterprises; focus on promoting digital transformation and application of information technology, supporting enterprises to expand markets and develop new export products.
For recommendations and proposals from the province, the Ministry will have a specific and comprehensive response document, and forward it to relevant ministries and branches for consideration and resolution according to their authority.
