Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh inspects the progress of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge

Reporting to the Working Group, the representative of My Thuan Project Management Board (project investor) said that, up to now, the overall progress of the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Construction Investment Project has reached over 97% and is in the acceleration phase to reach the finish line.

Currently, the Rach Mieu 2 bridge section has basically completed the route and the approach road to the bridge. The project is currently completing the installation of median strips, road markings, lighting, etc. The asphalt concrete construction for the last remaining short segments on the Dong Thap province side will be completed before July 20, 2025. The bridges on the entire route have basically been completed: Xoai Hot bridge, My Tho bridge, Tam Son bridge, Ba Lai bridge and Song Ma bridge.

The main bridge section - Rach Mieu 2 bridge has been closed on April 19, 2025. To date, the project has completed the construction of the guardrail, installation of guardrails, median strips and expansion joints of the main bridge... and is implementing the work of paving the main bridge's asphalt concrete surface.

The approach bridge has completed the asphalt concrete paving work on the South bank (Thoi Son ward bank, Dong Thap province) and will continue the asphalt concrete paving work on the North bank (Kim Son bank, Dong Thap province), expected to be completed before July 15, 2025.

After that, the project will continue to complete the bridge's auxiliary items, cable-stayed vibration measurement experiments, shock absorbers; deploy bridge load testing... and will complete the entire Rach Mieu 2 bridge in early August 2025.

At the construction site, construction units have mobilized nearly 600 workers and technical staff to continue construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams", with 30 construction teams and 150 construction equipment. All are determined to complete the project by the end of August 2025.

Speaking at the inspection, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh highly appreciated the role and responsibility of the investor and the project construction units and said that the Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project was designed and constructed by Vietnamese engineers. The project ensures technical, quality and cost. Currently, the Vietnamese Construction industry has mastered the technology, so the project has reduced about 50% of the cost compared to hiring foreign contractors. After completion, the project will be the eastern artery of the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta. The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project will reduce traffic pressure on the existing Rach Mieu Bridge and create conditions for people to travel conveniently, reducing costs in buying and selling goods.

Minister Tran Hong Minh requested that in the coming time, the investor and construction units continue to focus on human and material resources to construct the final items, ensuring quality, labor safety and putting the project into operation in early September 2025.

Rach Mieu Bridge Project

The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge project has its starting point at Dong Tam intersection (the intersection between National Highway 1 and Provincial Road 870) in Dong Thap province, the end point of the project is at about Km16+660 National Highway 60, about 0.71km from the northern abutment of Ham Luong bridge, in Vinh Long province.

The project has a total investment of more than 6,810 billion VND, invested by My Thuan Project Management Board.

Rach Mieu 2 main bridge is a cable-stayed bridge, with a length of 1,971.2m, a 4-lane grade III delta road, and a total project length of about 17.6km.
