Minister Nguyen Chi Dung received the Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam

(MPI) - At the reception for Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized the potential and space for investment cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia. At the same time, he affirmed that Vietnam always accompanies and supports businesses in general and Malaysian businesses in particular to facilitate investment and business.

Speaking at the reception, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung welcomed Mr. Dato' Tan Yang Thai to visit and work at the Ministry of Planning and Investment; highly appreciated the interest and investment of Malaysian investors and their contributions to the socio -economic development of Vietnam. At the same time, he said that Vietnam and Malaysia are important partners in trade and investment and the two countries still have much room to strengthen investment cooperation in the coming time, especially in the fields that Vietnam encourages and prioritizes investment such as supporting industry, innovation, science and technology, digital transformation, and green energy.

Accordingly, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung requested the Malaysian Embassy in Vietnam as well as relevant agencies, organizations and business associations of the two countries to enhance communication and dissemination of each country's policy messages to provide more information to investors of the two countries, take advantage of potential and opportunities to promote investment and boost two-way trade for mutual benefit.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the Vietnamese Government always accompanies and creates favorable conditions for businesses and investors, including Malaysian investors, to invest and do business in Vietnam. Currently, Vietnam is focusing on institutional reform, improving the business investment environment, improving infrastructure, enhancing national competitiveness, and improving the quality of high-quality human resources to meet investment needs.

Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai thanked Minister Nguyen Chi Dung for taking the time to welcome him; thanked him for the information shared and said that Vietnam is an important partner of Malaysia, Malaysian investors have invested in Vietnam since 1990 in important fields such as finance, oil and gas and are currently expanding investment fields such as real estate and energy.

Mr. Dato' Tan Yang Thai also expressed his agreement with Minister Nguyen Chi Dung's view that the two countries still have a lot of potential and room to enhance cooperation; affirmed that the Malaysian Embassy in Vietnam will continue to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment to support businesses in seeking investment opportunities between the two countries. He also added that the Vietnam - Malaysia Joint Trade Committee Meeting is scheduled to take place in July 2024. The contents discussed at this Meeting will contribute significantly to promoting cooperation and investment between the two countries in the coming time./.
