Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee Nguyen Van Hung gave a speech at the Conference.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized that in the first 6 months of 2025, in the context of the world having many advantages and difficulties, the Vietnamese sports industry has received the attention of the Party and State leaders, the support of the people and has made progress. Contributing to the overall success of the industry, there is a great role of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
At the meeting, the Minister requested the Executive Committee to focus on reviewing the implementation of tasks and plans in the first 6 months of the year, the results achieved, and from there focus on discussing to promote the Olympic movement higher, further and stronger. Along with implementing the revolution of streamlining the apparatus of the entire political system, the Minister also suggested that the Vietnam Olympic Committee also need to review the team, consider and perfect the personnel in the direction of streamlining, compactness, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency. The Minister also hopes that the Committee will promote the intelligence of the Executive Committee so that the Vietnam Olympic movement in general and other activities of the industry in particular can develop further, meeting the expectations that the leaders of the Party, State and People have placed on it.
Besides, it is necessary to coordinate closely, promote the role and responsibility of the Federation and Association, strengthen the role of state management, focus on promoting strong sports, especially those sports that are loved by the people.

Reporting at the Conference, Mr. Tran Van Manh, Secretary General of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, said that in the first 5 months of 2025, the Vietnam Olympic Committee has successfully completed the proposed work plan and implemented many highly effective sports activities, contributing to the development of the mass sports movement in the country and high-performance sports in the international arena.
Regarding mass sports, the Vietnam Olympic Committee continues to coordinate and accompany localities, Federations, and member associations to successfully organize the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of the Sports and Physical Training sector; the Olympic Day series of events; Children's Olympic Day to celebrate the anniversary of the IOC's founding with socialized funding with more than 10,000 participants.
Regarding Olympiceducation and training, the Vietnam Olympic Committee has coordinated with the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Information and Communication Center, and related units to successfully organize the Digital Transformation Workshop in the Vietnam Olympic Movement in 2025. The workshop was organized to apply digital technology to develop the Olympic movement in Vietnam, helping to raise awareness of the role and importance of innovation and digital transformation in management, operation, training, competition organization, and database synthesis of the Vietnam Olympic Movement as well as promoting communication activities of Sports and Olympic organizations on digital platforms.
Regarding high-performance sports activities and participation in major international sporting events in the region, continent and the world, the Vietnam Olympic Committee has actively prepared work, compiled information from the Organizing Committee of International Games for Vietnamese Sports Delegations to attend the 33rd SEA Games, the 13th ASEAN Para Games in Thailand, the 3rd Asian Youth Games (AYG 3) in Bahrain, and the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.
Conference Overview
In foreign affairs, the Vietnam Olympic Committee continues to expand and strengthen Olympic cooperation with international sports organizations, national/territorial Olympic Committees of the region, continent and the world; seek support from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), programs, events, courses, and operating expenses of the Office sponsored by the OCA and IOC to implement the 2025 action plan.
In the remaining 7 months of 2025, one of the important and challenging tasks for Vietnamese Sports is to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand and the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
At the conference, Director Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet said that in order to have the best preparation for important tasks, the Vietnam Sports Administration has been strengthening the direction of relevant units to prepare athletes and ensure the best conditions for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to participate and achieve good results.

In recent times, the Vietnam Sports Department has actively coordinated with the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Federations, National Sports Associations, localities and relevant ministries and branches to focus on training to improve athletes' skills, increase nutritional supplements, nutrition, training and competition equipment, medical care and other necessary conditions as well as training and competing abroad, helping the teams to properly implement the set plan.
In particular, select and divide the sport groups to focus on investment and send excellent athletes to train abroad, compete in domestic and international tournaments to improve professional qualifications, accumulate experience, and competition psychology for athletes. It is expected that the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will attend the Games with about 1,000 members, including nearly 50 doctors, medical staff, and team leaders.
Also at the Conference, delegates participated in discussions and gave practical and frank opinions to promote and enhance the role of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
In his concluding remarks at the Conference, Minister Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the contributions of the delegates and affirmed that despite many difficulties in the first half of 2025, the Vietnam Olympic Committee has closely followed its tasks and made efforts with the Vietnam Sports Administration, localities, Federations and Associations to build a strong Olympic movement and achieve remarkable achievements.
The Minister requested that the Vietnam Olympic Committee continue to focus on completing assigned tasks, especially closely coordinating with the Vietnam Sports Department in analyzing and forecasting the capabilities at the upcoming games, most recently the 33rd SEA Games and the Asian Youth Games.
The Minister also requested the Committee to continue to maintain and promote the Olympic movement, thereby helping Federations and Associations have a basis to concretize in accordance with the nature and professional profession; Select truly excellent and typical athletes from grassroots tournaments, supplementing forces for sports; Improve communication and orientation work; Actively mobilize resources to increase policies and regimes, strengthen sponsorship mobilization work, and manage resources well to "collect correctly, collect enough, spend correctly, spend enough" towards the interests of athletes, resolutely overcome deviations.
At the conference, delegates voted to replace and supplement the Executive Committee after some delegates resigned. In particular, delegates unanimously voted with absolute confidence and elected Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet to assume the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
