Jamie Vardy's future heats up the summer transfer market in 2025. |
According to Sky Italy , the former Leicester City star has agreed personal terms with Cremonese. He is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Serie A club.
After becoming a free agent, Vardy attracted attention from many clubs across Europe. However, it was not until the summer transfer window was about to close that the English striker found a new destination.
Vardy, 38, left Leicester City in June. After his contract with the Foxes expired, Vardy initially wanted to continue playing in the Premier League. However, Premier League teams were hesitant about recruiting Vardy because of the player's wage demands.
According to Gazetta , the board of directors of Genoa - another Serie A club - were disappointed because Vardy demanded a salary of up to 100,000 pounds/week, a figure that exceeded the Italian club's payment. Initially, Genoa were confident of recruiting the player with a salary of 60,000 pounds/week, but at the last minute, Vardy and his agent changed their minds.
However, in the end, Cremonese - the team that just won a ticket to Serie A this season, convinced Vardy. Despite turning 38, Vardy still showed formidable form when scoring 10 goals in the 2024/25 season, including 9 goals in the Premier League.
