Beyond just ordinary spring festivals, this is an opportunity for students to immerse themselves in national culture, learn to share, and nurture love for their roots amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Schools revived by the warmth of spring.

At Thu Thuy Primary School in Cua Lo Ward, this year's "Spring of Love - Tet Reunion" program holds a particularly special meaning. This school was the most severely affected by the major storm of 2025, with many classrooms having their roofs blown off and teaching equipment seriously damaged.
Overcoming the difficulties following the natural disaster, the festive atmosphere brought a new, vibrant look. The schoolyard, which still bore the marks of the storm and flood, was now brightly colored with fruit platters, calligraphy, and traditional folk games such as tug-of-war, sack racing, and blindfolded pot smashing.

Sharing her thoughts on the significance of this activity, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Principal of Thu Thuy Primary School, said: “This program is not simply a spring celebration but also a source of encouragement and renewed faith for teachers and students after months of hard work overcoming the consequences of the storms and floods. This is an opportunity for the school to show its concern for students in difficult circumstances, while also fostering a spirit of sharing and compassion in the community. We want the children to understand that, no matter how difficult the circumstances, human kindness and solidarity will help us overcome everything.”
Le Thuy Phuong, a 5th-grade student from Thu Thuy Primary School, excitedly shared, "I'm so happy that after the 2025 storm, the school is so beautiful and lively again. What I like most is playing pot-breaking games, sack races, and calligraphy with my friends. These activities make me feel warmer and give me more motivation to study hard in the new year."
"Happy learning hours" amidst the atmosphere of Tet (Vietnamese New Year) in the old days.

In Thanh Vinh ward, Le Mao Secondary School brought a fresh perspective with the theme "The Flavors of Tet in the Past." The program was designed as a special "happy learning hour," where students directly recreated the traditional Tet atmosphere with green banh chung (traditional rice cakes), red couplets, and rustic stalls that they prepared themselves.
For 6th and 7th grade students, this activity is linked to the theme "Me and My Family." Students, along with their parents and teachers, wrap banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and decorate stalls, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the value of family bonds and kinship. Meanwhile, 8th grade students consider this a practical session in the Experiential Activities subject, helping them develop teamwork and financial management skills.
Ms. Ho Thi Thanh An, Principal of Le Mao Junior High School, said that the "Taste of Traditional Tet" program is a way to bring the content of the Experiential Activities subject closer to real life. Through practical activities, students not only have fun but also learn how to cooperate, share, appreciate the value of labor, and cherish family affection. The school hopes that the Spring Festival will not only bring joy but also spread a profound message about humanity, sharing, and faith in a happy new year, achieving many accomplishments in teaching and learning.
Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, a student in class 6E, shared that preparing the stall herself and planning the expenses with her classmates made her feel much more mature. She realized that to have a warm and cozy Tet holiday, her grandparents and parents had to work hard for many days. She also came to love the cultural traditions of her nation even more.
Equally vibrant, Nghi Phu Kindergarten in Vinh Phu ward held its Spring Festival to welcome the Year of the Horse 2026 after a 10-year wait. Nearly 600 children immersed themselves in lively lion dances, participated in folk games such as dart throwing and blindfolded duck catching, and experienced activities like selling goods, enjoying traditional food, making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), practicing calligraphy, and drawing Tet-themed pictures.

Ms. Tran Thi Tu Hoa, Principal of Nghi Phu Kindergarten, said that through these heartwarming activities, the school hopes that the children will grow up in a loving environment and begin to develop an appreciation for the beautiful cultural values of the Vietnamese nation, as well as cultivate soft skills. Importantly, through this activity, the school raises funds to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds so they can have a warm and peaceful Tet holiday.
Witnessing her child's excitement and accompanying her throughout the festival, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen emotionally said: "The children not only had fun but also learned and experienced various activities; this is truly a beneficial playground. I hope the school will maintain this activity so that the children can participate and understand the value of the traditional Tet holiday of our nation."
Spring festivals in schools not only bring joyful laughter after stressful study hours or natural disasters, but also serve as a bridge connecting the past with the present. From practical experiences like making banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and calligraphy to folk games, students naturally receive valuable lessons about humanity and responsibility. "The Flavors of Tet of Yesteryear" or "Spring of Love" have truly become precious spiritual assets, helping today's young generation appreciate their cultural roots and confidently venture out into the world .
“Traditional culture is the ‘root’ that enables each student to integrate seamlessly into society. Bringing them back to traditional values through practical activities helps them learn to appreciate the value of labor and family affection. This is the most effective way to educate and nurture character and love for their homeland in the younger generation,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Chief of the Office of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training.
