On May 25th in Hanoi , the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) organized a meeting titled "Vietnam Volleyball Journey 2026," aiming to encourage and motivate the national women's volleyball team ahead of a challenging international competition period. The event took place on the team's training camp day, reflecting on the remarkable progress of Vietnamese volleyball in recent times.

In addition, the program also opens up a new development direction for Vietnamese volleyball in the period up to 2026, aiming for professionalism, modernity, and stronger connections with the fan community as well as business partners.

Speaking at the event, VFV President Duong Manh Tien emphasized: “The Vietnam Volleyball Federation aims to transform tournaments and matches into professional sports entertainment products, thereby creating sustainable revenue streams from media, commerce, and the fan ecosystem, instead of just exploiting the value of tournaments in the traditional model.”

On May 25th, the Vietnamese women's national volleyball team officially assembled with 14 of its best players after completing domestic club-level tournaments. Under the guidance of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the team will embark on a packed schedule throughout the year, including the AVC Women's Volleyball Cup 2026 in the Philippines, the SEA V.League 2026, the VTV Cup 2026, the Asian Championships in China, and the Asian Games (ASIAD 2026).

Mr. Le Tri Truong - Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation - shared the team's goals for 2026: "The core objective of the National Women's Volleyball Team at the upcoming ASIAD 2026 is to continue striving to be among the top 4 teams in Asia."

The period from 2023 to 2025 witnessed remarkable progress for the team under coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet. In 2023, the Vietnamese women's team reached the top 4 of the Asian Championship for the first time after a historic victory against Australia in the quarterfinals.

In the AVC Challenge Cup and AVC Nations Cup, the Vietnamese national team established dominance with three consecutive championships from 2023 to 2025. Notably, at the 2025 AVC Nations Cup on home soil, the team successfully defended their title with an almost perfect performance, losing only one set throughout the entire tournament. This achievement helped the team enter the top 30 in the world rankings of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) for the first time, rising to 28th in the world and 4th in Asia.

The winning streak continued at the SEA V.League 2025 when the Vietnamese women's team defeated Thailand for the first time to win the second leg. This achievement helped the team climb to 22nd in the world rankings - the highest ranking in the history of Vietnamese volleyball.

At the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, the team continued to make a strong impression by finishing in the top 4 overall, competing on equal footing with the continent's leading powers.

According to the latest rankings of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the Vietnamese women's national team is currently ranked 28th in the world with 136.75 points, and 4th in Asia after Japan, China, and Thailand.
