Long An FC changed coaches before round 12. Coach Trinh Van Hau was invited from Binh Duong to take over the head coach role from Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Linh.
During their away match against PVF-CAND Youth in Hung Yen , the new head coach of Long An Club had an unsuccessful debut. They lost 1-2 and showed no immediate positive signs.
In the 17th minute, Ha Vu Em pushed an opposing player from behind. Referee Ha Van Thuc awarded a penalty. Goalkeeper Le Van Hung saved Nguyen Hoang Anh's shot, but it was disallowed.
The assistant referee waved his flag indicating that former Vietnam U23 goalkeeper Le Van Hung had left the goal line before Hoang Anh took the shot. When the penalty was retaken, the PVF-CAND youth player successfully converted the penalty in the 19th minute.
It wasn't until the 50th minute that Long An FC equalized 1-1. Nguyen Tuan Dat rose high to head the ball just past the post after a backward header from a teammate during a free-kick.
In the 72nd minute, the Long An FC defense allowed Trinh Long Vu to break through on the left wing and score. Goalkeeper Le Van Hung failed to hold onto the ball, letting it slowly roll into the net.
The 2-1 victory helped PVF-CAND Youth climb to 7th place with 17 points. Meanwhile, Long An Club is ranked third from the bottom with 8 points after 12 matches in the 2025-2026 National First Division League.
Long An FC is only 2 points ahead of Dong Thap FC. Dong Thap has yet to win a match this season and only needs 3 points to overtake their Western neighbors.
Having lost 4 of their last 5 matches, Long An FC's gap to Dong Thap and bottom-placed Thanh Nien Ho Chi Minh City has narrowed to just 1 point. At this rate, Long An will find it difficult to escape the relegation battle.
