With this ranking, Vietnam is ranked 8th in East Asia and continues to be allocated one direct spot and one play-off spot to participate in the AFC Champions League Two for the 2027/28 season. This is also the number of participation slots that Vietnamese football has received in the last two seasons.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand continues to lead, ranking 7th in Asia. The following positions are held by Malaysia (11th), Singapore (14th), Vietnam (15th), and Cambodia (19th).
According to the AFC, the rankings are based on the performance of clubs in continental competitions over the last eight seasons. Recent seasons have been weighted more heavily to accurately reflect the current competitiveness of each footballing nation.
The 2025/26 season is assigned a maximum coefficient of 1.0, decreasing to 0.3 in the 2017 season, while the 2020 season is not included due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In recent years, Vietnamese clubs have actively participated in AFC tournaments and made many notable achievements.
In the 2025/26 season, Hanoi Police participated in the AFC Champions League Two and were eliminated in the round of 16, while Nam Dinh finished third in their group.
Maintaining its position in the top 15 in Asia demonstrates that Vietnamese club football is gradually achieving stability and aiming to improve its standing in the regional arena in the future.
