On the afternoon of May 23, on the final day of the 2025 Asian Youth and U22 Boxing Championship held in Colombo (Sri Lanka), young Vietnamese boxers performed brilliantly, bringing home two championships in the women's 50kg and 52kg categories.

In the final match of the U22 women's 50kg category, boxer Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran won against her opponent from Kazakhstan Gulnar Turapbay in both rounds, bringing home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation at this tournament. Previously, in the semi-finals, Ngoc Tran had a narrow win over Fernando Sachini (Sri Lanka) after three rounds.
This is the second time Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran has reached the finals of the Asian U22 and Youth Boxing Championship. She only won a silver medal in 2023 but managed to change the color of the medal with great determination when participating in the second biggest final of her career.

Not long after Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran's memorable victory, teammate Song Thi Kim Ngan continued to bring good news to Vietnamese boxing when she won against boxer Tomiris Myrzakul (Kazakhstan) in the final match of the women's 52kg category, U22 age group.
Kim Ngan's weight class has 5 fighters competing and she will compete from the quarter-finals. The young Vietnamese female fighter successively defeated Roshni Ghalan (Nepal) and Fariza Yoqubova (Tajikistan) to participate in the final match with Tomiris Myrzakul.
Tomiris Myrzakul started better with effective attacks and was awarded the win in the first round. In the second round, Tomiris Myrzakul continued to maintain the offensive position but Kim Ngan fought back effectively, scored impressive points and was awarded the win in the second round to level the score.

In the third round, Tomiris Myrzakul attacked even more strongly, but the final victory went to the Vietnamese boxer and Song Thi Kim Ngan brought home the second gold medal for the Vietnamese youth boxing team, contributing significantly to the achievement of 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 11 bronze medals at the 2025 Asian U22 and Youth Championship.
The 2025 Asian U22 and Youth Boxing Championship brings together 300 boxers from 23 countries and territories, including the Vietnamese boxing team with 19 members.
