What did the letter from the suspected assassin of Mr. Trump say?

On September 23, US prosecutors said that Ryan Wesley Routh, who is accused of pointing a rifle at former US President Donald Trump at a golf course in Florida on September 15, had left a letter months earlier stating his intention to kill him.

The handwritten letter, addressed to " the world ," also offered a reward for Trump's life.

"This was an attempt to assassinate Donald Trump, but I let everyone down. I tried my best and put in all my effort. Now everyone has to finish this, and I will give $150,000 to anyone who can complete the job," the note read.

It appears the letter was written based on the prediction that Routh would fail in his attempt to assassinate Trump. Prosecutors said the letter was found in a box, which also contained ammunition, a metal pipe, and four telephones.

The box had been left several months prior at the home of an anonymous witness who contacted authorities after Routh's arrest on September 15th.

According to the US Department of Justice , suspect Routh is also accused of keeping a list in his car listing the dates and locations of upcoming appearances by Trump, along with a notebook containing comments about Russia, China, and Ukraine.

When searching the suspect's vehicle, authorities also found a phone displaying directions on how to get from Palm Beach to Mexico.

According to reports, the device was connected to towers near the Trump International Golf Club, where the incident occurred, and near the Mar-a-Lago estate where Mr. Trump lives.

These new allegations aim to substantiate the prosecutor's claim that the suspect wanted to kill Mr. Trump.

The U.S. authorities are charging Routh with two weapons-related counts after he allegedly pointed a rifle at Trump while the former president was playing golf in West Palm Beach. Further charges may follow.

According to the criminal complaint, a U.S. Secret Service agent escorting the Republican candidate saw the weapon and fired in its direction, causing the suspect to flee. Routh was later apprehended on a highway in Florida.

According to the complaint, they found a loaded SKS-style rifle with a scope, a digital camera, and a plastic bag of food at the scene.

Additionally, cell phone data suggests Routh may have waited in the area for nearly 12 hours. The FBI is investigating the incident as a potential assassination attempt on Trump ahead of the November 5 presidential election.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, lived in North Carolina for most of his life before moving to Kaaawa, Hawaii in 2018. He and his son ran a warehouse construction company.

He has a criminal record for possession of firearms with erased serial numbers and possession of stolen property. On social media, he has repeatedly defended Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.
