Post offices 'encroach' into retail stores

New postal services

On October 20, in Tu Minh ward, a department store with an area of over 100 m2 on the premises of Cam Giang Post Office was opened to serve the people. This is a location right in the center of Tu Minh ward (formerly Cam Giang district), with a high population density, convenient for transportation and transactions.

The store is like a miniature supermarket with full facilities, selling a variety of essential consumer products, from food, household goods, cosmetics to clothing and technology products serving daily life. The stalls are designed and arranged scientifically , conveniently and eye-catching.

Since its opening, the Cam Giang Post Office Department Store has attracted the attention and shopping of many people, especially housewives.

Experiencing shopping at the store, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thuy, in Thong Nhat residential group (Tu Minh ward) said that the items on sale are quite diverse, meeting almost all daily consumption needs. "Coming here, I can find and buy many products at the same time in a clean, cool and convenient space, instead of having to go back and forth to many places like a traditional market. The store is open until 8:00 p.m. every day, so it is quite convenient for workers and laborers," Ms. Thuy shared.

Choosing to buy some agricultural products at Cam Giang "Post Office Department Store", Mr. Le Trung Kien in Tue Tinh Street, Tu Minh Ward, assessed that the products were quite fresh, good quality, the product prices were listed publicly, no need to bargain. He was also assured that all products had clear labels and information about origin.

In addition to Cam Giang Post Office, in Hai Phong there are currently 3 other "Post Office Department Stores" that have been in operation since October 20, including: Kinh Mon Post Office, No. 235 Mac Toan Street (Kinh Mon Ward); Chi Linh Post Office, No. 233 Nguyen Trai Street (Chu Van An Ward); Binh Giang Post Office, Street 38 (Ke Sat Commune).

This is a new type of service of Vietnam Post, selected to be deployed at central post offices with large areas, dense population and convenient traffic.

Multi-purpose service center

Deputy Director of Hai Phong Post Office Doan Trung Tuyen said "Postal Department Store" is a modern retail model combined with the traditional postal space. The development of the model aims to diversify operations and take advantage of existing infrastructure to expand services.

Post office combines many convenient services.

From there, contributing to realizing the development orientation of Vietnam Post's service points to become multi-functional, friendly service centers, bringing maximum convenience and fully meeting the essential needs of the people.

If in the past, people went to the post office mainly to send letters and deliver goods, now with the "Post Office Department Store" model, people can shop for essential goods and use many services at the same time such as: postal delivery, postal finance, public administration, utility payments right at the same service point.

Each "Post Office Department Store" store will have about 2,000 essential consumer products. The products are selected from reputable suppliers, ensuring origin and quality. These stores also prioritize selling agricultural products and regional and local specialties.

In addition to Hai Phong, the "Postal Department Store" model is being deployed by Vietnam Post in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to put 200 stores into operation nationwide.

Currently, the "Post Office Department Store" points are continuing to improve their organization, grasp customer needs to improve service quality, aiming to become a trusted consumer address for every family and citizen.

After 2 weeks of operation, 4 "Post Office Department Stores" in Hai Phong city have attracted the attention, shopping and service use of many people. Average revenue reached more than 10 million VND/day/point.
